Does anyone know how to watch the live streams of the wsop preliminary events this year? So far I've gathered that poker central will be streaming them this year, I think, but I dont know if that means they will stream directly on their website or on one of their "distributed digital channels". The latter sounds complicated and I don't really know what they mean by that lol

I think you're right about the clearing out some details thing. I hope they don't screw up the prelim events live streaming. I never get to go to vegas, so I need my streams lol

I think its going to be carried by PokerCentral. This is all i could find from their website:

Quote:
Poker Central is planning a comprehensive live streaming schedule for the 2017 World Series of Poker and will announce further details prior to the start of the WSOP in late May. Periods of the WSOP Main Event not broadcast by ESPN will be included in that schedule. Click here for the full release.

it looks like a lot of it is going to be shown on pokergo which you have to pay for through pokercentral? that sucks

Not sure but it looks like it's going to be subscription based $10/month. I do not like that mainly because friends and family usually have no interest in watching the streams every day but they do wanna watch if you make it to a final table and past years those were available and free.

i think you're right that this is what it is. i think it will frustrate a lot of people when every final table in the past was free, and now you'll have to pay for it. $10 a month isn't insane, but when it used to be free, it just kinda stinks.

Some of us are old enough to remember when we had the option of a no-hole-card live pay-per-view for the final table.

Those who are don't know what twitch is. It's a dumb idea. More money can be made through advertising. Put commercial breaks and be done with it.

I know what twitch is but on some sites where it's linked it don't work on my puter. Which is weird because it works fine on some sites. Guess it doesn't matter because I'm not paying to watch poker.

Those of us who run companies realize you make a lot more money if you do both - subscriptions plus advertise. Do you think Poker Central made this deal to lose money.... That is not a sustainable business model.

[B]SUCKS - [B] - but that's the way it works.

I'll subscribe - $20 for 2 months to get my fill of streams - no big deal.

And I might add, it looks like they killed my dream; i.e. making a WSOP final table and bragging to all my friends and telling them to watch the stream. I can't do that now because I'll look bad by asking them to pay $. I'm now less likely to even play an event. The dream dies- thanks Poker Central.

Basically what I was thinking. Way better to have at least a few streams available for free with ads than do them all via subscription.

The streams were on WSOP.com for the past several years in part because WSOP's deal with ESPN prohibited them from broadcasting the content on any other non-WSOP platform. So WSOP couldn't stream on Twitch or YouTube, for example. Now WSOP redid their ESPN deal and got Poker Central involved.

I'd rather watch for free than have to pay, obviously. But I get the business model. The subscription service isn't just for these streams, of course. PC is hoping you'll pony up to watch some WSOP streams and then be impressed by their original content and new shows like the revival of High Stakes Poker. They're counting on enough people sticking around for more than just the streams. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't. But I admit, I like watching poker and I'll probably at least give it a try.

They should at least give a 7 day trial or something. That will solve a lot of problems.

They haven't announced all the details, but PokerCentral has the rights and will likely stream *some* of the final tables. Maybe they'll stream a few of them on free channels to tease the product and try to get people to subscribe. But I'm guessing most of it will be on the subscription service. I have no inside info, I've only heard the vague discussion on PokerCentral and David Tuchman's podcasts.

The pokergo.Com website has a few events that they're going to stream. I imagine they will add more. You have to subscribe

maybe the big ones like colossus and the 1k/1500 no limits will still be on wsop.com? it definitely doesn't look like pokergo has ALL of them, and i doubt they just don't show some

its going to be extremely upsetting if they dont stream any of the non nl events. last years coverage was amazing like the horse 10k 50k etc
