Much less hassle than wiring $$ in year's past. Last year it took a few weeks to get confirmation of wire transfer and I had to call the Rio to get the ball rolling on the confirmation.
It's great to hear that it's all improved on prior year wire procedures; I still don't understand why such a large enterprise can't have slick e-payment processing. For most purchases we make oneline, let alone for 4-figure amounts, we expect confirmation in seconds not days...

If it weren't for my doubts over the mechanics, I would 100% be cc pre-registering and happily paying the fee compared with the hassles of obtaining and transporting cash. But - as it is - with still plenty of niggles in the system, I am still on the fence.

This year's system was slapped together with chewing gum and baling wire. It should be better next year.

Remember, we're talking about gambling here, not regular e-commerce. Purchases have to be linked to the Total Rewards system. I can tell you as a programmer, linking 2 systems from different companies is usually not easy. There's also regulatory approvals that have to be made, an all this stuff takes time. I talked to the Bravo people at their booth and a lot of time was spent waiting on Gaming.

The only benefit the 'Fast Trac' had was to the WSOP, Banks and third party registration.

There was a lineup of at least 100 people at the 'FAST TRAC' seat assignment pickup area when I went there on Friday and again on Saturday. This line was 'reserved' for those who registered online with either debit or credit.

There were about 20 people in the cash registration line on Friday and no one on Saturday. No lines, no convenience fees.

There is already a nice rake for the casino on the buy in, but now they're letting banks and third parties profit too? The interest that will be charged on those credit card users who don't pay their full amount at the end of the month on top of that convenience fee makes this option a loser. It's just another form of predatory lending and the organizers of the WSOP admitting that they're too inept to streamline a simple registration process.

Hey WSOP, here's an idea....how about letting go of has been former player senior writers and hire a business expert on streamlining the registration to handle excess traffic when you're going to have 20K+ entry games?

I sent a wire a few days ago for 3 events and mistakenly forgot to include my players card number in the note. I've been trying to reach Rio on the phone but the line seems to always be busy. For those who have called, what time seems to be best to get an actual person on the line? (are they answering calls 24/7?)

edit: lol literally as i submitted this post I received 3 emails confirming that they received my funds and I'm registered for the 3 events.

BUT...with the risk of carrying a large amount of cash. Not everyone banks with a megabank and can just hit a branch after landing at LAS. Quite frankly, I place most of my purchases on plastic to take advantage of the rewards...this includes the last two vehicles I purchased.

It isn't predatory lending any more than the airlines or cruise companies that allow cardholders to charge their vacation are predatory. If someone chooses not to pay in full at the end of the cycle, that is on THEM, not the banks and certainly not the WSOP.

The fee being charged is not inconsistent with what many places have begun doing since Visa and Mastercard did away with the rules allowing a merchant to recoup the processing fee. I just wish they were set up to accept American Express since that is where I place the bulk of my spending...would also make it easier to allow for card payment on larger buy-in events.

Yep, I e-mailed that specific question to WSOP FasTrac Tyler Pipal and he said not a problem. He also wrote if any issues he's located at the "tropical payout area"

I don't know if they would have ever contacted me if I had not phoned.
Update to this, in case anyone else is on a similar path. I made an electronic transfer on 27th May to cover this shortfall, and got an email on 7th June to confirm the seat.

This is irresponsible.

You now know one of the many reasons that, when you change addresses, you should update the address with the DMV and get a replacement driver's license.

Presuming you have already gone through their verification process, you should see the event at the FasTrac kiosk. I entered one of the daily deepstacks online (may have been the Saturday event) and just got the confirmation email today...kiosk had the ticket ready to print moments after I had registered though

I'm trying to decide if I should pre-register with credit or pay in person. I haven't been to WSOP before and plan to start with the $1500 Monster Stack. What is the typical wait time to register in person? Does it make a difference if you line up the night before vs morning of the event?

So ... I registered one event by credit card - mostly to test the system out.

On the plus side, the actual registration online and then finishing it in person worked smoothly.

However, I would probably not use this system again because there is so little flexibility once you have registered. I assumed I could un-reg in LV and use the money for other events or whatever. No ... you can't. Of course, you can "void" the entry but the money goes back to your card. In my case, this means I will have paid the 3% charge, plus say 3% conversion fee plus lose on the re-conversion.

I reg'd for the One-Drop and wanted to change flight .. that was not allowed.

So ... I do appreciate that it's an advancement to even have any ability yo reg by credit card but I will be wary of using the system again in its current form.

Just one more word on this: I did not wait to receive my official confirmation mail before completing the registration procedure. And - fair play - this was not a probem.

I have just arrived home - the day after the Little One Drop finished - and received my confirmation mail ! I think the system needs a little fine-tuning ...!
