why does the $225 get so many more runners than the other ones?

I can tell you why I'm playing it next week

1. Despite the rake, it's the highest buy-in of all the deepstacks.
2. Five-figure prizes on the measly 235 buy-in.
3. It's at the WSOP, so guaranteed to deliver a handful of fish along with the rec tourney players en masse.
4. It's at the WSOP, period. Cool experience even if no bracelet.
5. I can go play night cash games if I bust.

Yeah I have about a $400 budget for tournament this week and I was thinking of entering two different $185's yet the $235 seems so much more popular I think I will do a 235 and a 135

I would do a $235 and find something else to do with the rest of your cash.

Yup, fields are much smaller in 185's and 135's. It sucks to go deep thinking you did something and then hardly get paid. I finished 22nd in one of the smaller ones, took 12 hours doing it, and won a couple hundred over min-cash.

The 15% payouts really cannibalize these also, especially if you re-enter. You have to get to the final table, which is just difficult.

Tuesday (June 6) had 1377 runners for a prize pool over $250k! Tourney was down to 6 players at 5:15a Vegas time. Unreal.

this is so cool. I am so excited to play in the one tomorrow. All fields for the bracelet events have gone down this year but the dailies seem to be fine and maybe even growing.

I was the "10th" place person in this tourney. It was 8:30 am so we actually negotiated an equity chop. took about 15 minutes to get 10 people to agree to terms, but i feel like we would have been playing for at least another hour. We had him sign for first because Belgium is a tax treaty country, so it helped everyone. He was actually 4thish in chips (we were all really close, and even the big stack had fewer than 20 big blinds).

IDGAF about hendon mob/GPI, so i said i'd sign the 10th place. *shrug* $6500 for me. LONG grind.

ETA: these are some of the softest fields I've ever played in. I would have played more but had to come home.

FYP. Thanks! It basically saved my first week (tournament-wise. had a few winning cash sessions). Had to head home for some family stuff, but i'll be back at the end of June.

Good luck to everyone else who decides to play these. The fields will only get bigger as the month goes on.

I played in two this past weekend. Didn't cash in either, Got close to the money in 1 and not close in the other. Really pissed about it. I'm just out of grad school and have entry level jobs so I do not have much extra money. I basically used it all up with these entries. It puts pressure on me to do well. Meanwhile people at my table are saying they play them everyday and never cash, rebut, buy in with 10 minutes to go before registration closes and go all in with nothing to lose. Frustrating.

^ This is good real-world example of the importance of bankroll management. Those who have a bankroll of at minimum 10-20x the buy-in are able to think long-term and don't become too conservative out of fear of losing their money.

Yeah very true. But since my job is up in the air I do not know how long I will be living driving distance to Vegas, so I am taking advantage while I can. Especially during the series

Does anyone know the last day of the series they will be running these daily deepstack $235's? I'm going to be in Vegas a couple days in mid July and was thinking of trying a couple of these.

4 PM $185 / 214 / $30,349 / $7,519
7 PM $365 / 248 / $56,035 / $13,254 *
9 PM $135 / 145 / $16,577 / $4,558

* 7 PM / 134 / $39,810 / $10,808
** FYI - 2 PM DDS usually gets 1k+ players

** If your wondering why there is a separate value for 7 PM it's because
on 6/4-6/5 the 2 pm and 5 pm DDS events didn't go so an influx of players
entered into the 7 PM DDS skewing the average.

From what it looks like if you have the time and can dedicate 16+ hours to a tournament the 2 pm is the way to go; biggest field biggest payout. From the looks of it the 9 pm DDS seem to have the smallest field and shouldn't last too long into morning. While the 5 PM/7 PM is pretty much the same I suppose.

I was planning on playing in Event 33 of the WSOP but I may just play in a 2 PM DDS. It's a hell of a lot cheaper to get in to and you get somewhat similar experience being that your playing in a WSOP event but a non-bracelet one at that. Plus I wouldn't have to spend my entire 4-days in Vegas sitting around playing poker, not that there's anything wrong with that. :-)

See you at the final table!

The 2pm is probably the best option. However I will say if you don't like shallow stacks it is not the way to go. It takes a long time to eliminate the players so once you approach the money bubble the average chip counts are 15-20 BBs, very shallow. And they remain that way until the final table.

The 5pm has far fewer players so it takes less time to eliminate the players down to the money bubble, so when the bubble is reached in that event the average stack size is around 30-35 BBs. Deeper play. But obviously less prize money.

FYI the number of entries drops significantly towards the last few days of the WSOP, you'll be lucky to get over 400 in the 2pm.

Any idea how many runners these two tourneys are getting since the main event has started?

Also what room are the deepstacks being played in?

I played the 2pm yesterday. Only 336 runners and we played in the Burro Boracho. Right across from Guy Fieri's restaraunt
