Actually, you don't need to go to the casino floor to get to poker room or special events center (for WSOP-C events) if you enter in via the parking garage and stay on level 2.

My "comment" was more about "newer poker places not accustom to poker players bringing backpacks etc." I don't recall if they have a rule like that, but I suspect worse case is that they just inspect it. Not sure what you intend to put in your backpack, and maybe they have rules against bringing in food, drinks, etc (I have no idea).

In the current poker room, bottled water is free and you don't need a waitress to get it (just walk over to fridge). Not sure if they will have free water in the special events center next door where WSOP-C will be held.

Also anyone with experience, they gonna allow a backpack into casino? Obv newer poker places not accustom to poker players bringing backpacks etc.
The many time I go to Cherokee I have brought my backpack. So yes!

Sorry if I missed this. I have pored over many pages and failed to find any info on when and where to sign up, and how to pay.
The only event I plan to play currently, is the Limit Holdem event on the evening of 4/9. Anyone offer some insight on when to show up, and where to register. Early registration available for this event? Thanks.

Those are good questions, and I don't the exact answers myself. But I assume that once the tournaments start on April 4, you may register in person at the Casino for any event that will occur during the 12 days. If you are at the Cherokee Casino before April 4th, not sure when registration starts. I know that the regular WSOP this summer in Vegas has online pre-registration, but don't see anything for WSOP-C online preregistration.

I think they require cash or cashiers checks (no mention of travelers checks). Regular WSOP in Vegas accepts wire transfers, but not sure about WSOP-C.

If you have never been to the Cherokee Casino, the event will be held in the Special Events Center, which is right next to the regular poker room on the second floor. If you enter the Casino through the main entrance where they have valet parking, then go up the escalator on your left (right next to water feature). However, if you don't have a Total Rewards Card, you should get one on your right before going upstairs (you can also register for one online in advance, but not sure if there is time to get it mailed to you). Make sure you bring appropriate photo ID. If you enter via the parking garage, you can stop on the 2nd floor and walk all the way around the 2nd floor to the Special Events Center, or go to Casino floor from the garage and find the escalator in front of casino near water feature.

I would plan on showing up a couple of hours in advance of your first event if possible, but it may not be absolutely necessary. Here is a doc showing standard rules for all WSOP-C events that might be of interest:

Two questions:
Will they allow headphones during the WSOPc? I know they are not allowed in the regular poker room at Cherokee.
During the WSOPc event, will there be live dealers for the $1/$2 cash tables or just the Poker Pro tables in the poker room?

Almost 100% they will have 1-2 in the tournament space running. Headphones not sure?

They should follow Wsop rules for the tourneys and headphones are allowed until you make the final table. If they tell you no show them a copy of Wsop rules. You can print a copy of the rules and take it with you.

I think the official rules are that (Rule 62 in the link I provided above):
62. Once players are in the money in any Tournament, all approved electronic devices must be removed. An announcement will be made to players once they have reached the money to remove all such electronic devices. Failure to do so will results in a penalty up to and including disqualification, in accordance with Rules 39,102, and 103.
Not sure if they will enforce that, since it is mainly to make TV coverage more interesting (more talking among players).

I am hoping the turnouts may be higher. I know about a dozen folks from a home game circle of around fifty players that are planning to play at least one event and more likely at least three. It's a four and a half hour drive for us so there is definitely some pent up demand for some tournaments we can drive to.

On the circuit it has always been final table.

Thanks Roger. Good reply. I have played poker at Cherokee since April of '09 so I know where everything is, but your info is very informative and helpful. I did play some of the WSOP tourneys a couple years ago and they were on PokerPro so figured this would be a lot different.

I did dig around last night and find a site that said registration for events would be the day of the event, but I cannot vouch for that. I will try to find it again but am still unsure if it is a concrete source.

Cherokee is pretty close for me so I may just ride up and check it out when it kicks off on April 4th.

My BR has suffered much in the past year due to numerous illnesses in my immediate family so time and money have reduced me to a Thursday night 50+10 MTT once in a while.

My real passion is LHE and PLO8/PLO(tournaments) so not much for me to do at Cherokee, on the nights I can go up. I have made a couple trips up just for the PLO tourney on Wednesdays but it doesn't always go, and I hate to drive 60 miles and not play what I prefer.

Thanks again.

It has been enforced for the regular WSOP events that I have been apart of/Railed, so I would assume the Circuit would be no different. Honestly I really do hope they enforce it. It keeps the flow going but that is just my opinion

Im thinking of taking the family to stay at the wilderness in the smokies indoor waterpark and hotel which is in Sevierville, TN.

Does anybody know how far this is from Cherokee and is the way through Gatlinburg open yet if not how far by getting on I-40 ?

Thanks

It has been final table only at wsopc Tunica, St Louis, New Orleans, Biloxi, San Diego, Palm Beach and Durant. I know this as I have played at these and the same crew is working Cherokee that worked these except New Orleans so I would expect it to be final table there also.

"Newfound Gap Road (US-441) between Gatlinburg, TN and Cherokee, NC is closed to through traffic due to a landslide near mile marker 22 on the North Carolina side of the park. The road is expected to reopen to through traffic in mid-May"
http://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/temproadclose.htm

Google maps doesn't show US-441 as an option, obviously for reason above. The I-40 route takes about 2 hours, and there are two options once you get into NC (I would not use the I-40 to Maggie Valley route. Instead, take I-40 to US-74). Try Google maps driving directions.

What time do events usually resume on the second or third day?? I want to play in the main event but I have an exam Monday morning and having to miss part day 3/the final table would really suck.

Remember at the WSOP in Tunica the first day started at 11 or noon and then the second day started at 3pm, is that how all the events work?

Around 2pm is usually the norm for restarts.

I'd be surprised if it stays like this for tournament though. If so, they'll take a lot of complaints.
