any truth to the rumor that you cannot buy drinks at Cherokee? Just need to know if I should bring my own.

You can buy and consume alcohol, it's just not free like a normal non-corrupt monopolizing casino.

should be mentioned that the county is a dry one so if you plan on having drinks in your room/cabin/hotel then load up 20 or 30 miles before you get to casino.

Just booked a cabin, pretty pumped for this series.

I may need a place to crash on Thursday, 4/4 if I can't change my reservations.

The Casino serves alcohol until 2 AM (not sure when it starts in the morning). The rest of Cherokee NC (on the Indian Reservation) is dry. Outside the reservation depends on county regulations.

Make sure you are up the fishing rules and license requirements. From what I have heard, they do enforce the rules.

$150/night for a 3 bedroom a few miles from the casino. It apparently has DirecTV & internet

I will be there as well, and will probably be looking for some floor space and a shower to borrow in between 30 hr sessions playing cash...

I just got back from Cherokee today. They've stopped charging for valet parking if you're staying there, thankfully! Also that Days Inn is the very closest hotel to the casino front door. It's probably a closer walk to the poker room and event center, than the Harrah's hotel towers are. It appears to be pretty well kept from the outside at least and it's much cheaper than the Fairfield and Holiday Inn Express which are both also right across the street. The Grand Cherokee is across the street but down in the next block and the rest you'll have to drive over and parking will probably not be any fun.

Live cash tables have not yet been set up but they are saying that they will be running them for 2/5 games by the end of the month.

As for 1st in the main, I think this will have a decent turnout but I doubt 1st will be over 200K. My guess would be around $140 to $150K at best but I think it will definitely go over 100K. Cherokee will draw a huge crowd from the Atlanta area and Knoxville and probably Charlotte. There is just no where else people from those 3 cities can get to a WSOPC event within a 3 hour drive.

I've seen ads in Bluff and Card Player and if it's running on TV in Charlotte then good advertising will go a long way in improving the crowd.
