WSOP and Badugi

What do you guys think about adding a 1.5k and a 10k world championship badugi tournament to the wsop next year. The game is catching on real quick and I think it would be good for the series to add these tournaments.

Re: WSOP and Badugi

I disagree with adding Badugi. Looked what happened to A-5 lowball WSOP events. If they add Badugi, it will be short lived.

Actually, Jeffrey Pollack mentioned in a twoplustwo podcast that there was discussions for badugi in this year's WSOP but that they ultimately decided to put it on the back burner. Now that Pollack has resigned from his position at Harrah's and the WSOP, who knows what will happen. It is true that badugi has been getting more popular online but most of that is in the high stakes so I could see a 10K badugi event but maybe not a 1.5K. I would love to see a 1.5K or 2k buy-in badugi event but the turnouts would probably be abysmally low. Couldn't see more than 200 entrants in one of these. But I would totally be in that event if they added it for 2010. One time!!!! Get some young internet players on the PAC Harrah's. Let our voices be heard.

WTF, are you serious??!?!? No fing way!!!! Buy-in is a bit steep for my tastes, but I am sure you are gonna run hella satellites. Wow is all I can say after reading that. LAPC is at the Commerce or The Bike? Isn't badugi a part of lots of mid to high stakes mixed games out there in LA? Do you think that there will be a somewhat decent turnout for this event? Are structures up for this and other events? Have you ever run or seen a live badugi mtt being run before? Just wondering cause it seems to be the least familiar w/ the majority of players and TD's compared to any other form of poker that is still spread. So pumped, I might have to start saving up and looking for cheap flights and hotels.

LAPC is the LA Poker Classic held at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles

I have never run a Badugi tournament but the structure will be up very soon on the website.
