Those used to be $75 playing for a $500 lammer. Those were fun, $185 is too serious.

Not sure if the Venetian is going to add tables again during WSOP, I'm guessing they will since the new poker room configuration actually has less tables.
More likely due to floorman/TD douchebag issues. I quit playing at that place a few years ago.

Be aware that if you plan to have a car, some CET properties will be charging for parking by then unless you have higher players card status. Dunno if Rio will be one of them, or if they would charge for the Convention Center.

Did anyone happen to notice difference in tag team structure? Now just states that every player must play an orbit before their team busts, as oppose to before end of registration.

Rio is not charging for parking, only the Strip properties, unless CET changes their minds.

Sooo.....how would that work if some guy busts out on the first hand? I'm guessing the rule is in place mostly for cashing purposes. Why not just say each player must play an orbit before being in the money?

Ya it would be pretty funny if a team went deep and forgot to get someone in. I wonder what would happen to their payout?

Re: WSOP- 2017 ?

I'm arriving in Vegas on the 6th June and playing the $1500 HORSE on the 7th June. Will they run satellites to this tournament the day before? I'm from the UK and have never played a lived fixed limit tournament (Never mind one with 5 games..) would like a bit of practice first ha

Re: WSOP- 2017 ?

I'm playing that HORSE also. They will have single table satellites the night before, mostly $175s with winner getting $1500 in lammers and $100 cash. The drawback is the blinds go fast in those. The benefit is you get players in them that are NL players who are action junkies firing them just because they exist. Maurice Hawkins played one with me last year and was clearly a noob in most of the games.

Coming from the UK this may be out of the question but the Orleans has a fixed limit horse tournament on Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM. I've played in it and its a good tourney with 20 minute blinds but worth the effort. Cost is $100 .

For the record, I never get staked in what I play but I don't have anything against those who do. As previously asked, where did you hear about a ban on staking? How would such a ban be enforced? I think your anger towards staking is bizarre.

EDIT: I googled "poker staking ban" and it seems Nevada had a bill in 2015 that seemed like it would ban staking. Legal experts weighed in and said it would not ban it. I don't have the time to dig further to see if it passed or not.
1)winning a bracelet isn't some remarkable achievement
2) there are so many Busto frauds out there with a bracelet or two buried in makeup constantly trying to sell action to 500 dollar events

1) you're wrong. It is.
2) yes, there are a lot of degenerates who lost everything and beg for stakes. Not sure what your point is.

What's a like satellite?

If that's a typo or some weird butchering of the English language, mega satellites operate on a schedule, one-table sats do not. For events 5-10k+ that aren't NLHE, the preceding 8pm mega is usually matched to the specific variant.

Has WSOP explained why they made this change?
They simply said 10am on a Friday doesn't draw well. I asked why don't they make a late night starting flight on the Friday (effectively using the floor space when it's empty). Even if you bag at 4/5am Sat morn, you come back mid-day Sunday if that were Day 2. Didn't get a response.

I think a lot of weekend warriors will be put off by having to come back on a Monday (take time off work) and not even be guaranteed a min-cash, let alone making some real money.

Re: WSOP- 2017 ?

I am trying to plan a weekend trip and what a s-show this schedule is for a rec player like myself. There is a total of ONE $1500 NL tourney on a Saturday and day 2 of that tourney falls on Fathers Day. Rec players don't want to spend 4 business days in Vegas playing a tourney. Pretty sure thousands of entries to the MM and other tourneys will be lost due to day 2's falling on a Monday. If the Giant is the reason for this, the WSOP should be ashamed for letting a bad gimmick tourney like that screw up their marquee events. Not sure I am going to be able to make it due to this bad schedule.

They have to deal with Father's day and the 4th of July holiday each year. And I'd be surprised if they lose thousands of entries, particularly in the Summer when a large portion of their customers are already in town for an extended period. However, they will lose some, and I agree there doesn't seem to be a good reason for them to have made this change. It is decidedly unfriendly to rec players.

A similar change in the upcoming WSOP-C event in Vegas is preventing me from playing the $1650 Main event, a tourney which I have played every year for a number of years and was really looking forward to. Their reasoning for making that change (a relatively last minute change, at that), was they wanted to give players the opportunity to play some new $365 event on Friday. While I am not averse to playing those kinds of events, I am certainly not going to go out of my way to do so. They screwed up the ME schedule for me, as a rec player, and I am not going to be coming all the way to Vegas to play a $365 event. So its no WSOP-C for me this year in Vegas. I imagine a lot of other rec players are in the same boat. They got 1200+ entries for their March stop last year. I guess we'll wait and see, but I imagine they will get far fewer this year.

Does anyone who has played both the 10k O8 and the 10k plo have an opinion on the difference in toughness between the two tournaments? I would assume the O8 is much stronger field but was curious.

There's currently a wsop thread in the Omaha/8 subforum, you'll get responses there.

Dude, this is the World Series of Poker, where people from ~80 different countries attend, precisely for long, deep structures. If you need a single-day over and done turbo, I'm sure your local card shack can offer you something. If all you are able to play is weekend days, then you'll probably have more fun playing the Daily Deepstacks, they play until conclusion, no Day 2. But if you want to play WSOP Bracelet Events, then prepare to take some weekdays off if you plan to go deep.

While I agree no one is going to be able to go super deep in a bracelet event without playing on a weekday, that doesn't change the fact that they made this year's weekend schedules a lot less rec-friendly. There are lots of people who work for a living who can justify taking a day off if they know they are going to make lots of money. Making day 3 in any of these 1500 events typically justifies that. Making day 2 typically does not. If day 2 is on Monday, many rec players who have to make this decision will decide against it, or just player fewer events.

For people who are in town for a long period of time during the series, this change will probably not make much of a difference. But for those who only come in for the weekends, I think this is a big deal. I don't see how this change is gong to benefit anyone else, including the WSOP, so why make it?

But it's not like WSOP has been experiencing declining attendance numbers over the years, in fact, the opposite, which is pretty impressive considering the horrible state of online poker in the USA. So obviously there are enough people willing to take some days off work, if need be, to experience WSOP.

I've been attending WSOP regularly since 2005. I don't think I remember any large-field bracelet event (like your typical $1K-$1.5K NLH) being played ONLY on a single weekend. If you really want to play some WSOP Bracelet Events, I think you need to plan on taking some vacation days. Otherwise, what else can you do except the Daily Deepstacks if your plan is to fly in on a Friday and fly home on Sunday night, for example?

Whoever says that "recs" (whatever that means today) don't want to play 4 day tournaments should just change the sentence to "I" don't want to play 4 day tournaments, because I know plenty of "recs" who look forward to their ~week off at the WSOP.

Re: WSOP- 2017 ?

There's definitely decline in attendance, they're just hiding it by running an increasing amount of multiple day1 massive events (collossus, 888 and now the giant). I agree that most recs prefer deep structures though. Besides there's plenty of fast tournaments. If you make day 3 in the 888/collossus you're already very deep, then there's the 30min levels 1k, super turbo bounty 1k
