Very good schedule, and happy to see it released earlier than expected.
The 10k$ Tag team event might be fun if the pros get into it.
I like that the WSOP try new mixed games formats every year: after the "Lowball 3 games" in 2016 we have another 2500$ event called "Mixed Big Bet" with a pretty rare variant, PL 2-7 Triple Draw!
Honestly I'm not too excited about the "Giant 365$" with 20-minute levels but wait and see.

The $365 Giant is a smart gimmick, not that I want to play in, but it shouldn't force the starting days of the Milly Maker to Sat & Sun. Just really dumb to have the Milly Maker in those days instead of Fri & Sat start days. If anything do 3 starting days Thurs, Fri and Sat. Day 2 on Monday will turn way too many ppl away. I think they are going to see at least 20-25% decrease in the total prize pool of the result. Also, pretty frustrating there isnt more options for 1ks or a turbo the week of the Milly Maker.

Nice to see a $333 online event. Never got on WSOP.com yet but prob gonna give that a go this year

Blech, looks like 15% payouts again.

You can register at the cage with credit card if you pay the fees. Good news for travelers, bad news for degens with no impulse control.

I can't find the structures. Where they at?

Thoughts on the Marthon? In general, I have no objection to the existence of these kinds of events, since they are the exception, not the norm. And I realize there are players who value deep play above all else. But even with 15% payout, it seems like this one isn't going to reach the money until really late day 2 or even day 3. Playing two full days of poker without reaching the money in this kind of tourney seems like a tough grind and reduced ROI situation.

Day 1 structure-wise, yes, but the rest. no. This event appears to be similar to the WPT 500 at Aria the last couple years (particularly the turbo flights). Lots of starting flights which combine after several weeks. The man difference appears to be the lack of Best Stack Froward. Given the controversy over that feature and the relative miniscule number of people who actually take advantage of it, I don't think it will be missed.

It would be useful to know what their day one payout structure will be. They say the are playing 18 levels (or down to 10 players), but that doesn't really make sense since they also say there will be day 1 payouts. It would seem they would need to play down to a percentage, not a fixed number of levels. In the Aria $565 event, the day 1 payouts were something along the lines of $750 top 12%, $1000 top 10%, and $2000 top 5%.

Also, I think the day 2 scheduling is a bit off, though I'm not sure what would be better. The current schedule makes is difficult for people who go deep in the Giant to play the Main Event. Its not impossible, but it makes it more difficult.

I like the deep play so very pro marathon. Wish there were more of them for my own enjoyment. Love that it's a tough field and tough structure. Saw Chris Moorman last year on early day 2 money bubble with 1.5 bigs. Next time I saw him was end of Day 3 and he had a monster stack. Not sure you can teach that.

That's what I said too. It's also in day 1A, so even if you bust early day 1A, you can still (and should) register 1B. That's just silly to me honestly.

How is it harder? If you make it to Day 2, you can't play day 1A of the main (or late reg it.) If you make it to Day 3 (what probably will mean last two tables or so) you can't play day 1B either (or late reg it.) Either way you can just play day 1C.

Advice for first timer on places to stay? Best time to book a package? etc. Interested in staying 5 to 10 days, primarily to play WSOP events.

A few options I'm considering:
- Taking a 5 day $1200 (ballpark) USD package to stay at the Rio, this includes round trip from Toronto
- Renting out an Airbnb nearby the strip
- Staying elsewhere? Suggestions?

If your looking to save money the gold coast is decent for being very close to the Rio, Can walk if you wanted to.

Or if you are willing to spend more would deff look up palms place for rentals, Very close to the Rio and having your own kitchen beats any hotel imo.

"Very close" is a relative term. It's about two city blocks.

You can actually rent a small studio apartment for a month for $600-$700 if you don't care about being near a casino all the time. I did the Gold Coast thing one year because it's right across the street so I figured I can walk to the Rio but it's so hot at WSOP time, I didn't want to walk. And the rooms at Gold Coast suck.

Staying at Rio is nice so you don't have to worry about parking and getting there on time. For cheap places on the strip, Stratosphere is probably the "best" and there's always Circus Circus if you're really on a budget. Otherwise, staying downtown is a cheap option but you'll have to get a car, taxi, or uber to get to the Rio.

I stayed at a place about 10 minutes south of the Rio for about $250 for the week. Rented a car for another $300 and was pretty happy with it. My place was quiet and comfortable, even had kitchen access. If you think you're just going to the Rio and back, I'd get an Uber, but I found the car convenient for grabbing food and going to the strip. Also felt like there was always a bunch of people standing around waiting for a cab whenever I left.

It definitely wasn't a place to be if you'd have friends over or wanted to party, but if you're just looking for a quiet place to sleep, I recommend Air BnB.

I think making day two in this even tbasically means you have to play day 1C of the ME. And if you make a super deep run, you will be playing the Main on less sleep. Like I said, not impossible, just harder. I would be better if the last day of this event was the traditional Friday satellite day. That way players who go that deep could treat it as a satellite if they choose to and the others could still satellite in to any of the ME starting days.

I think making people come back on multiple weekdays when they are only in low-4 figure cashes is a bigger problem in a $365 tournament than the fact that the final 2 tables will have a bit less sleep before playing the $10,000 Main Event.

Gawd, I have to speak to this. the rooms at the Gold Coast are as good as any of the mid strip hotels, bar none.

The walk , in the heat, can be managed anyone with legs, including a cane (post surgical).

To recommend the Stratosphere and Circus Circus is unbelievable bad and in fact the rooms at the Gold Coast out perform the rooms at the Rio, without equivocation.

All the ones recommend by the above bring forth more dificulties, especially commuting difficulties which a little leg work , at the Gold Coast, overcomes.

You follow that [posters advice, you go down into that valley, says Little Big Man, I dare you. LOL.

Somewhere there is a thread on Vegas Hotels during the series; go there and get reasonable advice.

Lol, Gold Coast is a dump! And I didn't "recommend" Stratosphere or Circus Circus. I MENTIONED them as options on a budget. And I doubt you walked in 115 degree heat (that's what it was when I stayed there). Get over yourself.

Gold Coast is not that bad, and has an excellent food option (Ping Pang Pong) and some 9/6 jacks or better machines that they will throw free weekend rooms at you with a little action on them, which is super helpful on WSOP weekends where the Rio wants $180/nt or something absurd.

As someone who's walked from the Gold Coast to the Rio dozens of times during the WSOP...it's not nearly as bad as it sounds. It's probably about 2 blocks total from the entrance of the GC to the door of the RIO. Half the walk is through the 1st floor of the GC parking garage which is about 85 in the shade. So you're really only in the sun about 1 block (depending on the time of day, less). It IS convenient.

Also, have to mention Gold coast has 3/2 blackjack with a hit on soft 17 .Might mean something, I don't play except when I lost the last time, and it is the last time.

I've put a lot more than a "little" action on their vp machines and free weekend rooms are rare as hens' teeth for me.

Not hardly. When the weather report says it's 110 degrees outside, that measurement is taken IN the shade. It's a rare June in Vegas with 85 degree daytime temps.
