Did not look at satellites last year, although the dailies were available for CC payment online.

Payment by card will incur about a 3% 'fee' for the third party processor, so around $30 for every thousand of entry fee.

Has anyone used airbnb for vegas? if so do they get bought up quick or do more become available closer to the actual date?

Yes. You can pretty much book them whenever. I'd recommend sooner rather than later.

I am trying to find information about the buy-in min/max limits for the WSOP cash games during the series. Is it posted somewhere, or does anyone know what they are? Specifically looking at 2/5 and 5/10 NLHE.

Anybody play the $888 last year? It's at the top of my range in terms of buy-ins but I'm considering it. I'm guessing the structure won't be terribly great, though. Any other downfalls to this tourney? Also, typically I've seen sattys to $1k, $1.5k, and higher events. Anyone know if there will be sattys to this event?

Doubtful. They pay in $500 lammers. Closest you'd probably get is a $125 that pays 2 lammers and some cash.

I think they have $175 SNGs which pay out 3x500 lammers plus $120 cash. These get chopped a lot so you could work something out 2 or 3 handed.

My friend and I are planning on being in Vegas for the whole series and we're about to look for a house. We're thinking something like 4-6 people would be cool but so far it's just the two of us. Is anyone interested? If so please PM me and tell me a little bit about yourself.

Keep in mind you would only be able to use one $500 lammer to partially buy in to the $888, unless you don't mind not getting the change from buying in with 2 lammers, since the WSOP doesn't give you the change back when you buy in with lammers. Also yeah the structure was horrible last year for a tournament with that buy-in amount but they did increase the starting stack in the $888 this year from 5,000 chips to 8,000 chips.

Although he could buy into this and a deep stack for two lammers and some cash, assuming he had time to play the DS.

It's tempting. As I said, it's at the higher end of my buyin range but it would still be fun in a touristy way to play in a real wsop event. I've played in a daily deep stack before and will likely play in one again, especially if I don't do this tourney. I'm just slowly trying to build a plan as to what I want to play. Right now I'm definitely planning on the GN ME as it's about perfect for my buyin range and seems good. I'd like to play a one day event at the Wynn too as many of their tourneys seem to fall in the $200-500 BI range. Last year I played in a pretty cool 3 day event at PH but it doesn't look like any of their tourneys line up with what I'm looking for. I've never tried a WSOP satty but maybe I'll give one a shot, see what happens, and go from there!

Hey there D. from sweden
Will be my first WSOP this year (the whole series) and now i´m thinking about my buyin possibilities.
Cash i can bring max. 10k at plane(which obv isnt even close enough for the whole schedule) and creditcards seem to have big fees/doesnt work?
So i thought about buying in with wire transfer before flying but could get some problems with multidays then.
WSOP.com maybe an option so i can buyin over that site? like Pokerstars-Buyin at Pokerstars-Liveevents? Problem i cant use it anymore when im back in Europe..
Sorry if its a dumb question but what would you do in the given situation?

Everyone has different priorities, but IMO, the 888 is not a tourney I would stretch a budget for. The structure is not good enough. Better to play a number of smaller events at the WSOP or elsewhere so you can try to build up some bankroll to be able to afford one of the much better structured $1500 options at the WSOP, or elsewhere, this year or in the future.

I'm kind of in the same boat as Mayor is in. I'm trying to decide between a trip around the Colossus or the 888. Does the change in starting stack on the 888 to 8K in chips make it that much better of an option? I'm purely an amateur rec noob, who has enough money to come to Vegas and play in a WSOP event.

An advantage for me for the Colossus is I'd definitey be able to fire two bullets. I probably could for the 888 but if I come for the 888, I'll probably play in the Golden Nugget 500K event on Friday (day 2 is sunday, so if I advanced I wouldn't fire two bullets at the 888, just one).

Wiring money is probably your best bet. Where are you staying?

D. Anderson - If you don't/can't play a tournament you wired money to register, you can cancel anytime before the event starts. They will actually refund your money if you just don't show up, but they don't have to. And, they will not do it twice typically.

Also, in the past, you could wire money also into your account, using the money as you please when you get there.

Have fun and good luck.

Agree with this, the question is; can you receive a refund if the tournament has already started, I believe the rules say you cannot.

The other part is better; somehow set up a rio account and transfer the monies into your account and use as needed. Upon leaving, cash outs are according to the Rio which may be wire or check or whatever. Either way you will be able to get your funds in some manner.

Check the web site and see if there's a method to set up a wsop cashier account via the internet/phone.

If nothing else you can wire money for registration for whatever amount of tourneys would cover, then just unreg and use the money there for what you want. For example if you want a 50k roll, just wire registration for the 50k PPC, then unreg on arrival.

Thx for your help guys if i meet one of you at this years WSOP the first beer will be paid by me:-)

Think i wire buyin into all the bigger tourneys(like wsop me) before flying and play the smaller/1days with cash (and of course unregg before the start if i'm still in another tourney)
Bravo should be best for wire buyin? Just 3$ fee looks amazing compared to the cc ones.

Also fyi you can bring as much cash as you want. You just have to declare it at Customs.

Maybe do a mix of wire and cash just in case you have troubles with your wire, which sometimes happens.

If you use the credit card you won't get immediate credit; if you want the cash immediate, wiring the monies is the best. Check on the wire costs and then make a judgment.

Yeah this is the policy, it's kinda silly. If the tournament has started i can't go request a refund but instead just do a "no show" and they will hold your money at the cage. Rules state you could be restricted from entering further events if you "abuse" this policy but don't specify a number.

Rules on refunds are also different for online registration. The link to the full tournament rules is buried at the bottom of the page.

As pig4bill said, $10k is not the limit with which you can travel. You must declare any amount $10,000 or greater when entering the United States (keep in mind if you have exactly $10k you still have to declare, you could take $9,999 without declaring but if they find even one more dollar on you, you could be in big trouble). The declaration process I hear is very fast and easy and not a hassle, so if you're comfortable with traveling with so much cash, this is an option for you. Also note you may also have to declare the cash when leaving Sweden and/or passing through any countries you're connecting through on the way, but again should be a non-issue as long as you follow the laws.

Am considering wiring some mtt entries for first time this trip.
Last couple of times I crossed with 9-9800 they always ask me at first officer then flag me to the same bit as though I had over 10k. Have declared over 10 every time when I've carried more ( and in own uk country) and made the same queue with same questions . Think it's a judgement call on the time / hassle arriving vs doing it in advance and as mentioned how comfortable carrying you are.
Last time I had to wait about 45 mins as only one officer on and 5 person queue and was quickest questioning as I made it politely clear I have filled form in before and understand the rules so all he asked was breakdown of uk and us money once I got to him.
