I guess we'll just agree to disagree. There are lots of factors that go into determining which tourney someone will choose over another (schedule being the biggest one, perhaps). But everything else being equal, and if one is dead set on playing a WSOP bracelet event, then I don't see the value in spending 60% more on the 8-8-8, over the Colossus, given its relatively small advantage in structure. There are tournaments one can make a legitimate case to "stretch" for. The 8-8-8 (and the Colossus, too) are not those kinds of tournaments, IMO.

convenience is a factor for me...if I have to go at odd hours to have no line, that is NOT convenience.

You're right that schedule is perhaps the most important aspect of the decision seeing as they are literally a month apart.

I was just comparing them from a theoretical point of view I guess. If someone only can fire 1 bullet they'll probably choose the colossus I'd think just because of the price difference.

Nice! I'm pretty novice and I don't know how much you check everything but I'm pretty much a crazy person and have been checking rates every day for the last month. I've gotten pretty lucky with TR properties. Initially, I had the rio booked for like ~550 and then slowly went through lower rates at Harrahs and the Flamingo. Just checked today and now I've got 7 nights at the Linq for $388. I barely played any table games last time I was out there so I think I'm just getting the general rewards offer but figured I'd throw it out there in case you're still comparing. Good luck!

Arriving 6/28 with checkout 7/5. It's weird. Whenever I apply the WSOP promo code to my search, the rooms end up costing more than whatever rate is initially offered. Sometimes they have 20% off sales and only a portion of my stay applies. If you have a TR card, going on their website can be really helpful if you have the time. I was amazed at the options and pricing. I'm ultra cheap fyi so these may not be exactly what you're looking for haha.

Room rates for TR (platinum+ tiers) are typically lower than WSOP rates, particularly since you may get some number of nights comped.

Has this been confirmed yet? Is it open?

Confirmed. I just logged in to my Bravo account and can register for the Monster Stack for a $47.5 Visa fee or $62.25 if I choose AmEx. Only $3 for international or domestic wire transfer or cashier's check.

It is also wise to check 'flexible' dates. I managed to get 4 days comped at the RIO and pricing for the rest. However, I decided to book the 4 days comped, and then moving downtown for the weekend ending of my trip.

Main Street had a decent rate for a few days, no resort fee, and I had a friend say she stayed there, so figured I would give it a try.

Use your T/R card to check to see if you have comped rooms.

Don't know if this is has already been covered somewhere in this or another thread, but it looks like Caesars is getting on board the parking fee train...

https://www.caesars.com/parking

Its kind of hard to tell if it really applies to the Rio, but for those staying or parking at other Caesars properties... be aware. Parking is no longer free unless you have TR rating platinum and higher.

I'm a little surprised more people aren't commenting that they are registered and excited for the tournaments they'll be in. Is there a different WSOP thread I'm missing? If I recall correctly, last year there seemed to be a lot more excitement from people.

That's because everyone was worried about getting frozen out of the Colostomy. Nobody believes anything will sell out this year. Some people will still pre-register for various reasons, but for the most part they will just wait until they get there to register.

I can only talk for myself, was very excited the past two years for Colossus but after playing both years, i will not be playing another colossus, very ****ty structure and not worth the trip IMO, instead i am making a trip this year to play monster stack.

Ill Start..
I'm staying at the Aria and will only be able to go for 4-5 days
I will mostly be playing 5/10-10/20 NL Cash and maybe some PLO if I start losing. I will also play ONE maybe TWO $1500-$5000 buy-in Tornys.
I will be going with only 12-15k in my pocket and hope I don't come home owing my friends another 20k or so.....lol

The only think I know for sure I was doing that is WSOP is the Seniors event. Other than that, lots of stuff in the other series for the mixed and draw games. Three different trips across the month...that way I get a few days back in the office to tend to client issues and check on the critters...

2+2 Fantasy league sounds like a fun idea. I cant wait to play a few live tournaments since I don't get the opportunity to do so often

Well, it mentions Valet parking. Not sure why they didn't include a bit about self-parking too.

Does the line/wait to register for monster stack get long close to the start of the event?

I am considering a flight that would arrive in Vegas 9am Sunday morning and going straight to Rio.
