Yep he nailed it. TGI Friday thing is so tilting, the food is pretty solid but the service is bad every year over and over.

Why not use Kayak.com and compare various booking sites?

Doubt you need an OG for that, since the services on these travel sites is different now than it was even 4-5 years ago. Haven't tried Kayak, but sounds like it could be a good comparison tool. I booked my trip this year as a package on Expedia and it seemed to save a little. If you're looking for as specific a hotel as Vdara or Palms Place you will probably get similar prices across the board. I think the package deals mostly pay off when a particular hotel runs a promotional deal with a site.

Only caution is that in my experience, booking with third-party companies like Expedia sometimes doesn't give you rewards like airline miles and hotel points, or at least not at the same level as if you book directly. I think they have gotten better about that in recent years, though.

Cost shouldnt be different either way.

Travel sites will advertise that you save money by booking flight and hotel as a "package" but from my experience thats garbage and doesn't save you anything.

Booking them separately is easier and what I have always done.

Check AirBnB I've used it for both Vdara and Palms Place.

Be careful of the booking site fees. I used hotels.com and thought I read everything over pretty well, but after my stay I got dinged for $30 in fees by the site. I'll never use hotels.com again.

I haven't used AirBnB, but do NOT use VRBO. The prices listed on that site are an aggregate based on other reservations, not necessarily representative of the actual price. But the kicker is...they'll take payment anyway.

So you can find a room for an amazing price, pay it, then have the owner turn you down because the actual price is higher and then you have to go about getting your money back.

I find the best rates from the hotels directly. If you play just a small amount you can get great rates. I spent about $150 last year playing video poker at Treasure Island. I called the casino marketing and got 15 nights there in june for $950. NO RESORT FEE EITHER.

You should sign up for specials on the different casino sites and they send you many specials.

Worst advice ever. Those things are notoriously easy to break into, and a big target for thieves. Don't trust them OP...

Hotels:

www.momondo.com
www.trivago.com

They show you the cheapest on other sites like booking.com, hotels.com etc.
Usually well known sites like booking and hotels.com offer higher prices.

AIRBNB has pretty high prices on Strip apartments.

JUST USE www.momondo.com and you will be saving lots of moneys

What options are there to satellite into the $1500 HORSE at WSOP? I know they have single and multi table satellite tournaments which I understand to be all NL - do these only pay in $500 lammers or do some pay in full entries? Or is there an actual HORSE satellite?

Just looking for opinions and options.

mixn123,

WSOP.com has a satellite the night before, but my guess is that it will be holdem.

PH has a $240 HORSE the day before.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but pretty much all the satellites pay in $500 lammers, regardless of whether they are "full entry" or not. I think all of the multitable satellites are NLH except for the $1k megas the nights before $10k events in non-NLH games. The $185 daily turbo is just NLH. Of course, you can use the lammers from a NLH satty to buy into whatever you want. And it's not strictly accurate to say all the single table sats are NLH. That is by far the most common, but I know they occasionally run them in other games. I would guess the day before the $1500 HORSE they'll get a few HORSE STS's going. I would stick around the STS area and maybe ask the floor if they're going to get one going.

Do they have main event mega satellites with many seats guaranteed?

Are the satellites soft or should I just buy in straight?

What is the buy in to the $1500 event satellites?

If you are registered to an event but you win a satellite to that event, what happens?

No, as far as I know the WSOP does not run live megas with guaranteed numbers of seats. I believe they do online. Also, the megas with seats into the Main are really only held in the few days before the Main. Most of the summer the nightly $575 Mega is for $5k in lammers. And on the nights before a $10k in another game, the $575 NLH Mega is replaced by a $1100 satty in the game of the $10k.

Your results may vary. Not all sattys are created equal.

The single-table satellite that pays out $1500 in lammers plus $100 or so in cash has been $175 in recent years. The morning Turbo Mega paying out $1500 in lammers is $185.

You go to the cage and get your cash refunded and pay with the satellite lammers.

A HORSE STS is a little silly. Each game is going to take 1 orbit, right? Since a level = about 1 orbit, 1 full HORSE cycle is 5 levels, and a STS barely runs 5 levels so at best you'd get to play each game only 1 orbit.

Tip that I was reminded of this weekend:
Everyone tells you to drink lots of water, right? You sweat in the summer without even realizing it because it's so dry. Drinking lots of water replaces the water, but if you don't replace the other stuff, it can come back to bite you. Then at night you can get woken up by some amazingly painful leg cramps. You do a ton of walking in Vegas and if you're mostly desk-bound like me, it can get nasty. So slug down some Gatorade every once in awhile along with that water.

I don't disagree with you, my friend. I'm not recommending the format. Just saying there is some evidence that occasionally they do spread the STS in non NLH formats, including mixed games. See this info sheet from 2014, for example. It just depends on whether they have enough interest to get it going.

Use the wsop cage and get a deposit box there if you're carrying large amounts of cash or happen to bink something and want to have it somewhere safe. Benefit of having the box is that it also allows to to register right there for all the tournaments instead of standing in the normal line and sometimes having to wait hours to register during the busiest times.

Does anyone happen to know how much they want this year for a box? Can't find any information on it anywhere.

Yeah, absolutely. I've seen Omahaha and stud STS's.

If OP asks for a HORSE STS don't be surprised if you get turned down based on the reason above. He might have a better shot asking for one that's just one of the games.

No satellite has a specified target event, you just get your lammers if you win one. They don't auto reg anyone. If you win a 10K 2-7 satellite, there's nothing to stop you using your lammers to play a bunch of $1500 NLH events.

Of course, when the only event left to play is the ME, those lammers won in the satellites prior can only be used for the ME or they become worthless.

This is a more correct response than mine. But to be clear, if you've already registered by paying in cash, then you win satellite lammers, you can go and exchange those lammers at the cage to get your original cash buyin back.

No, you can never get cash back for lammers but if you've already registered in cash the safe route is to withdraw and receive your cash back and then present the lammers for repeat registration. It is done at the same booth but again, you will never receive monies for lammers from the WSOP.
