Have you considered going to the grocery store to pick up stuff for breakfast? Even deluxe rooms at Vdara have a kitchenette and you can order dishes/pots/pans from housekeeping. The Vdara Cafe has a small grocery area but you will pay for convenience. We stay in Vdara suites for lengthy vistits just for the convenience of having a full kitchen for breakfast and a washer/dryer.

Breaking a few years of silence. Playing the main event this year, first time at the WSOP. Flying in on the 9th and playing Flight C on the 11th. Was going to stay at the Rio, but changed to Gold Coast after reading this thread.
Do you guys recommend playing a couple of the daily deepstacks to get into the flow? Never used Uber (not legal here yet) - is it pretty smooth from McCarran?

Uber or Lyft from McCarran, really easy and should be around $10 max.

Regarding playing a daily deepstack on July 10th day before for some felt time, I believe the Wynn will have a $400 w/50K guarantee that might be a good option..

Take Lyft or Uber out to Whole Foods on Las Vegas Blvd (Town Square). Have Lyft/Uber wait and bring you back. Whole trip minus groceries will run you $15.

If money is no object, then walk over to Mandarin Oriental and have breakfast at their Mozen Cafe.

Uber from the airport to Gold Coast was $15 for me just now, way better than a cab or shuttle service. Highly recommended.

Tip: follow the signs for "ride sharing" and take the elevator to the 2M level of the parking garage.

My understanding is that the early Deep Stack doesn't finish until 3am or so. If you're traveling the 9th, I don't think playing the 10th until the wee hours of the 11th, and then playing the Main at 11 am is a great idea

Good point. Thanks. Maybe I will see what's going on at the Venetian or Wynn on Sunday.
Thanks for the Uber info.

Might be the wrong thread but I think this will get the right eyes on my question

I want to know about the RIO/USA withholding on Canadian players. Specifically what the procedure looks like if you have a sizable score and an American investor.

I'm assuming that the investor will need proper paperwork? In the event, will the cage withhold on the full amount or can I get the full investor payout immediately?

thanks in advance

Can someone tell me if Smash Burger opened yet at the Rio, and if not do you know when it is supposed to? BK used to be my go-to cheap food.

Was not open last weekend, I'll check again but I think it's down the road several weeks. I think Wahlburgers at Bally's was supposed to start selling burgers this weekend.

Rio food prices are bordering on the absurd. A burger fries and a drink from the food court are close to twenty bucks. Room service comes in cardboard take-out containers with plastic forks and the prices make the food court look like a screaming bargain.

There's plenty of parking in the massive open lot on the east side of the building, but nothing close and the interior of your car will get as hot as the sun.

I usually just park in the masquerade deck and walk a little extra. More AC for me, and shade for my car.

My first time here as well but I think I learned last night not to park in the garage. It's about a 10 minute walk through the casino to get to the WSOP. Follow the road to the right around back to the convention center. You should see signs.

EDIT: Unless you value you/your car being out of the sun like the above says.

Agree with Pig4. Rio room service is an absolute disgrace. Just don't bother.

As far as parking, it really isn't that much longer a walk to park in the Ipamema lot and you'll be in AC.

Smashburger is interviewing employees now, so it seems like it has to be a few weeks from opening minimum. They have to get everyone hired and trained, maybe get people their food permits, etc.

They have a juice bar in Aria. I remember the Juices being around $8.

Otherwise, the cafe at Aria can make Oatmeal or a fruit plate.

The official date I've been told is July 13th.

Looking for a decent tournament in the $200 range that will be over by midnight on July 9th (Saturday). Any ideas? seems like some places like Wynn don't have their regular Saturday tournaments going during this time.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but it was brought my attention via Joe Ingram's Twitter so I thought I'd pass it along:

You can complain to Uber if you feel you got longhauled and they'll adjust your fare to the price of the more optimal route.

Thanks for the information! Too bad I will only be there 7/3 - 7/8. I will have to familiarize myself with the poker kitchen, which I somehow have not ever done.

The Aria Classic ends on July 6 and i'd assume (maybe) that their regular tournament schedule will begin on the 7th (Thursday). the weekend prices are $240 for the Saturday 11:00 AM and $125 for the Saturday PM (7:00).

I'd give a call and see how it goes, perhaps a couple of days before the 9th.

I've received numerous $5 credits after making 1 star reports of drivers for things like smokey car or the driver texting and driving, and I didn't even ask for those credits. It's what they're doing for good customer service. One time I did report that a driver took a wrong turn but they didn't reduce the fare because it was within some percentage of the optimal distance, which is fair because it was only a slight difference in fare. But if you get hijacked, I'm sure they'll take care of you.

The food court food is not bad, just horrendously expensive and often has long lines. If you have the time, a walk to Gold Coast gets you a couple Chinese places, Subway, TGIF, pizza in the bowling center, and sportsbook $1.50 hot dogs. There's also a shuttle from Gold Coast to Orleans, which has a Nawlins themed place, a Japanese place, Fuddruckers, and Sbarro.
