WSOP 2015 The Little One for One Drop WSOP 2015 The Little One for One Drop

Going to Vegas for my first time and The Little One for One Drop will be my first WSOP event the end of June. Any general thoughts, tips or logistics for this event? Any predictions on how many players (looks like around $4500 last year) or when the bubble will burst?

My advice would be play the monstor stack, milly maker or collosus instead

Why the hate here? You can get 10000 chips too which adds
To the experience.

It's not a rake, it's a donation to charity.

The one drop 111 dollar is not mandatory. You can buy in for 1k for the usual 5000 chip. But donating will get you 10000 chip. It's not a bad deal, if a lot of people at your table decide to buy in short stack, you might get a advantage with a double stack

I'll set the line of number of players shortstacking at 0.5 and I'd still take the under.

It's a rake. Caesars makes the donation to charity and deducts it in their taxes, not you.

Yeah, but it's a wash for CET because they also have to show it as income.

So, nobody gets the deduction.

Maybe OP can only travel during the little drop, and the debate over whether it's Rake or Charity isn't what he's looking for?

My advice:

1) Register late at night the day or two before when there are no lines.
2) Learn where the restrooms are and if you need one (assuming you aren't button/BB/SB) just skip a hand or two right before break to beat the rush.
3) The Banana/Brown Sugar pancakes at Hash House A Go Go are great for pre-tourney breakfast.
4) Bring a hoodie - it's generally a bit chilly (most years).

Good luck!

+1 Been doing this for years - let's not encourage too many people tho

Personal preference - I like to stay at the table. But if you do go a hand or two early, I can't stress how important it is to count your chips!

Whoa... I find if I eat oily stuff, 60 - 90 mins into play I start to feel a bit rough... I'm a cereal / fruit kinda guy...

+1 Most learn this the hard way. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people rush to the WSOP apparel stand outside the Pavilion Room to buy a hoodie because they're cold. Temperature can vary 5 - 10 degrees depending on where you're sitting.

Also, like what was said before, there's probably more value in the Colossus, MM, MS or EP, but if that's all you can play, you should have some good fun!

That is the only time frame I can go so that is what I'll be playing. I appreciate the insight. Food and bathroom breaks are crucial!

Probably a valid consideration for most, but I usually donk out with at least 20 minutes to spare before feeling rough.

I'll also add

5) If you arrive on time, you will almost always be playing short handed for the first 20 - 40 minutes. In my experience it's usually noobs and nits that are there early. I've usually picked up a (very) few easy chips from absent and tight players, but the time is probably more valuable to start forming initial reads on opponents.

Definitely bring a sweatshirt. On my first wsop I worn only t shirt and It was crazy cold. On break I run outside for the vegas sun but after 20 minute in vegas weather I was still freezing. Sweatshirt, hoodie, jacket.

Playing your first WSOP event is exciting - good luck !

The really important thing IMO is that you enjoy the event. So, try to remember that it's just a game, and you're there principally to have fun.

If your schedule allows, then I would recommend registering as soon as you can and then spend a bit of time around the Rio getting familiar with where your table is and getting a general feel for the set-up. If you haven't played in these huge-field events then it can feel a bit overwhelming.

The only other tip I would pass on is that the pace of bustouts in thse large field/ lower buy in events is astonishing. The tournament clock doesn't really catch up to it until after late registration and I am always surprised at how much of the field has been eliminated. Hang in there !

Thank you for the reply. Having a good time is definitely key and is easy to forget to do sometime! I am in in to win it, but will have fun no matter what. I've been reading on here that you can pre-register online and do a bank transfer so I am going to make that happen. GL to you if you go to the WSOP as well.

The Little One has historically gotten ~4500 entries. I suspect, with the chip add-on they may get a bump in attendance, with everything else being equal.
