Gross! So much for ever playing at Caesars Windsor with its unlimited re-entry tournaments. Fortunately for local players, the new schedules for Great Blue Heron Casino (2015), Casino Brantford (up to March), Casino Rama (up to May), and Woodbine all look good. And they are all freezeouts AFAIK.

This could probably be a PM, but I'm lazy-any idea why Brantford is running a 330 this month and not a 550? And any reg you know that could suggest a different chip accounting for the end of month 550? Typically for the 15k starting stack they give out 16 25s, 21 100s, 19 500s, and 3 1000s, which is insane and way too many small chips (and 59 phyiscal chips total). Even if they don't want to give out 5ks at the start and want plenty (too many) ante chips, something more in the realm of 12 25s, 12 100s, 7 500s, and 10 1000s would result in 41 physical chips to start and make stacks a lot easier to count as the tourney goes forward. In reality 8 25s/8 100s/4 500s/12 1000s would be ideal.

To me its just +EV. Most players that bust early (most) do so because they are not good at poker. Allowing them to reload just creates a much larger prize pool and adds dead money/chips to the tables.
Also if a solid player busts early, the tournament is then offering him/her better value.
I see it as win win.

Players generally like freezeouts because it's a "truer" form of poker. Pros with unlimited amounts of money will just keep on firing, making it a more pro friendly tournament. This makes it bad for the game because it deters casual players from playing. It's -EV in al reality.

The old rebuy/add-on format is much better compared to the re-entry format since 100% of the rebuys and add-ons goes to the players' prize pool. For example, in a rebuy/add-on event where players spent a total of $1,000,000, only ~$30K would not go back to the players. For the terrible re-entry format, ~$120,000 would not go back to players, or four times as much. With unlimited re-entries, players will go busto or reach their "I quit poker" threshold faster, especially recreational players.

Read Matt Savage Asks If It Is Time To Reconsider Reentry Events. The WPT Executive Director is against same-day re-entry and uses next-day single re-entry instead for many WPT events, but Fallsview will not only allow same-day re-entry but an UNLIMITED number of times!

Many recreational players like me hate re-entry in big events because rich pros like Daniel Negreanu can re-enter an unlimited number of times after you bust him, but after he busts you, you may not be willing or able to re-enter for $2,500 and repay the full rake. This is why many players like me will only play in WPT Fallsview IF we win a seat, and will not buy-in directly against unlimited re-entry pros.

Instead of a win-win compromise with a next-day re-entry format, letting players re-enter unlimited times means the casino will miss out on earning higher rake at the cash games, SNG satellites or slots. Each cash game table generates $140-$160/hour in rake plus another 10% of the Bad Beat Jackpot collected.

Are you ok with a late registration unlimited rebuy format?
I guess those are tougher to come by though now.
If a casino or event can cap their numbers I dont really see any incentive for them to allow rebuys(less rake) instead of re-entries ( more rake ). Why would an event ever allow rebuys instead of re-entries?
I understand why you dont like it (some of my friends agree) I still just believe that most of the re entries will be paid by losing players not pros like D Negs.
Yes a pros value does increase, but I think any good players value increases also.
In the event I just played in windsor fish busted at my table and re-entered.
Fireworks were going off in my head because he was mega bad and was going to re dump a stack.
However I do agree that a good compromise is next day re entry only.

Does anyone have any information regarding the satellites to the event? I can't find anything specific and I've called Fallsview. The lady answering the phone wasn't very helpful.

Still no official details posted. Guy at the poker room says that 1K event starts on Feb 7th.

So I assume:

1K - Feb 7-9
2.5K - Feb 10-12
5K - Feb 13-15/16

I would be surprised if the 1K ran over the weekend but who knows.

Sat next to a guy that won a $245 satellite last night and he didn't know what he won. He thinks he won a seat into the 1.1K but he wasn't sure...and this was 20 mins after he won it.

LOL, there isn't even any official information available yet, with less than two months to go.

Except for copying WPT Bellagio's (Five Diamond) horrible format of unlimited re-entries for preliminary events, the blind and starting structures will probably be the same as last year, i.e., only 10,000 chips for the $1,100 Event #1 and high-ratio antes starting in Level 3 already.

Despite unlimited re-entries being allowed up to Level 9, the unofficial information I have heard is that you can re-enter only by paying CASH, i.e., you cannot use your satellite wins or buy another player's extra entry. Does WPT Bellagio or any casino disallow you from using your extra satellite wins as a re-entry?

No official details have been posted, the WPT site says 1x re-entry up until level 10 but that's nowhere near official.

I don't get how it can take so long to release the schedule. If they know the dates of the main event, they must know the dates of the rest...

It's because Fallsview doesn't care about poker.
