The old rebuy/add-on format is much better compared to the re-entry format since 100% of the rebuys and add-ons goes to the players' prize pool. For example, in a rebuy/add-on event where players spent a total of $1,000,000, only ~$30K would not go back to the players. For the terrible re-entry format, ~$120,000 would not go back to players, or four times as much.
With unlimited re-entries, players will go busto or reach their "I quit poker" threshold faster, especially recreational players.

Matt Savage Asks If It Is Time To Reconsider Reentry Events. The WPT Executive Director is against same-day re-entry and uses next-day single re-entry instead for many WPT events, but Fallsview will not only allow same-day re-entry but an UNLIMITED number of times!
Many recreational players like me hate re-entry in big events because rich pros like Daniel Negreanu can re-enter an unlimited number of times after you bust him, but after he busts you, you may not be willing or able to re-enter for $2,500 and repay the full rake. This is why many players like me will only play in WPT Fallsview IF we win a seat, and will not buy-in directly against unlimited re-entry pros.
Instead of a win-win compromise with a next-day re-entry format, letting players re-enter unlimited times means the casino will miss out on earning higher rake at the cash games, SNG satellites or slots. Each cash game table generates $140-$160/hour in rake plus another 10% of the Bad Beat Jackpot collected.
