Being held in Tucson this year, anyone planning on playing? Main Event won't be possible for me due to work (and lack of skill/bankroll tbh) but I'm hoping to play in one of the smaller events if my schedule allows (schedule starts Sept 16). Anyway, feel free to discuss in here or PM me if you want to do a 2p2 meet up in Tucson around this.

I was going to play some satties but I'm glad I didn't find the time because I'll be busy for work during the tournament.

I might play the main event. Are they really going to hit the $150k guarantee? I feel like it will be tough because probably not many people would travel from CA or NV to play it. I guess they are figuring enough Tucson locals and people traveling down from Phoenix will play to cover the guarantee. I think it will be hard to hit it. The $500 tournament at Talking Stick gets about 100 players and people don't have to travel for that.

I was also considering doing the $150 O8 but am not sure if it's worth driving down there and missing a day of work to play.

They've been running weekly satties for months. They're probably hoping that the satty winners plus the WPT name and rarity of an event like this will bring people in.

I'm driving down from Phoenix to play event 1 and most likely 2 since it's a turbo.

Depending on a few factors, I may play the O8 and main the following weekend.

The main looks to have a really good structure. I don't think I've ever played one that good other than home games.

Is there information on the structures of the other tournaments? I got stuck working the weekend of the main but I may play the Knockout event on Wednesday the 21.

Event 2 sounds good, it's a "turbo" that's otherwise structured the same as the main tournament, just with 20 minute levels instead of 40. The issue for me is that if I were to somehow go deep into it, I'd probably be screwed for work the next morning; also the wife made plans for us that night so I'm definitely out now. Still planning on playing Event 4 since that's the only one I can make timing wise, too bad the structure is not nearly as good as the deepstacked ones. I'm unfortunately working a late shift the weekend of the main but if anyone goes deep and is playing late I would think about going out there for a sweat, just post or PM if you want company and I'll see what I can do.

I played the O8 yesterday. It got 130 entries which is really good for an O8 tournament. I'll be back to play the main event on Saturday.

Heading over there after work to play tonight's tourney, sounds like it might be pretty busy after last night. GL in the main.

Are these re-entry tournaments? I may be blind but I can't find that piece of info on the schedule or structure seats.

As far I can tell they aren't, overheard the room talking about capping entries at 100 tonight, though they may still allow late entry after people are knocked out. Both casinos here used to have pretty nice poker rooms but with the popularity waning they've been moved to way dumpier areas. This one is at least pretty big but I'm surprised they had something here rather than in Phoenix.

That room is pretty small. Are they clearing out some slot machines for tables?

I don't think so, have you been there since they moved it a few years back? I think it's bigger than it used to be but the location is not as good. There were another 130 or so tonight and seemed to fit fine. Not sure what the situation will be if the main is way bigger.
Also they did allow rebuys, fwiw, but they did it the weird Arizona way where you just reregister like nothing ever happened.

That little room was very crowded with the 130 for the O8 event I think that was max. Crazy ending though, never seen a 19 way even chop every one left got $779. Nice return on $150 entry but still crazy. It was 3am and many left had to go to work or were like me real old and tired. LOL They did record chip counts so the official record will be based on that.

Apparently 117 have registered for today's flight. I guess they won't have a problem hitting the guarantee. I think tomorrow's flight will probably sell out.

That's the normal way, how everyone does it. It's called a re-entry, not a rebuy. Nobody does rebuy tournaments any more.

How late was it? I probably would've become the room villain and insisted on playing on. At least for awhile.

The O8 event was ridiculous. with 32 players left they wanted to chop 50% of the prize pool so that everyone got paid 200$ and then play for the rest. Literally out of the entire remaining player pool myself and one other guy at my table were the only people who objected. People were reacting like we were insane. Great value and a pretty nice casino, i played 3 events and was good structures and amazing player pool. The main almost doubled the guarantee, 286k or so total prize pool. Will be back next year for sure if it returns

That's pretty bad. Was it mostly OMC's? I just re-read above where 19 out of 130 players chopped? Was 19th place even scheduled to mincash? Sounds like it was a quintuple bubble save.

Are you the guy who lives in Mexico who got AA to my TT BvB when that guy limp folded with like 6BB? Good playing with ya, if it was.

Man I finished 40 something in that event. I'm usually pretty opposed to any kind of chop and definitely don't like paying the bubble. They would've loved me.
