I think it is really speculative to say that more people would play the River if they start the series at the start of August and have the main on a random weekend vs having the tournament on a weekend where tons of people have a 3 day weekend and also where they have a decade's worth of history of having the tournament the same weekend every year. The River has been there for years and years, I guess I don't know why you are pissed about Winstar not moving it instead of pissed at Choctaw for not setting their dates right before the River instead.
I think you are probably pretty dramatically overestimating how many people would play the River main and the WPT main if they were two weeks apart but won't because they are six weeks apart instead. Some people will benefit from the six weeks apart timeframe, either for bankroll reasons or other. For me traveling from Austin, with two kids, much easier to get away six weeks apart than two, as one example.
