Poker players are still playing poker to maximize earning potential. So if someone had to choose between playing a live $1500 or $3k or w/e or playing sundays online, the smart answer is clear and anyone who chooses to play live are clearly doing it for a reason other than profit. Those that do this are in a very small group of their own. Even 30 players not playing in a live event (that otherwise would play) due to having both a turning stone $2500 and ftops 2000 as well as an ftops sunday all in the same weekend is a considerable number of people lost that may otherwise not be.

PLEASE PLEASE PALEEEEZ DO NOT F*** w the typical 1500 deep stack...it is a proven product that has really separated BG from its competitors...they get hordes upon hordes of people for these things every few months and they really are incredible value...Tab and Stan continue to experiment with re-entry, double play, survivor etc etc formats all the time and periodically will run these events just for the sake of variety but nothing has been more consistent (in terms of popularity) in the last few years at BG than their 500k 1650 DS events...its the right price point, its the right guarantee, and the structure is basically flawless...the numbers don't lie...I always look fwd to the next BG DS and I know I'm not alone in that regard...now, if we could just tinker w/ the dates this time...

Six-max once or twice in a 3-week tourney -- fine.
Six-max in a stand-alone 3-day tourney - u have to be kidding.
It'll take nearly twice the number of dealers and twice the number of tables as a standard $1,550+$150 NLH Deep Stacks.
I agree with Vinny. If it ain't broke, don't diddle with it.

How early can I register for one of the tournaments and book a room at the poker rate?

Hey, Tab. Never been to Borgata before... tried to play the main last year but ended up not because hotel rates are so ridiculous there on the weekends. I'm seeing like $200+/night for Saturday. Will there be anything better? It's so expensive to get there from Vegas already just in flights that I'd like to minimize hotel costs.

You have ask for the rate when you register, then I think you must show your tournament receipt when you check out to get the rate (I think I got that right).

Re: WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship Event.September 8 - 23, 2010
So I have to book it at whatever rate they have it listed on their web site and then cross my fingers that it'll be fixed when I get there? Scary!

So you're going to book an expensive flight from LV to AC, pay the 3500 buy-in tournament, and the difference between a hundred bucks for a room could be a deal breaker for you?
If you're really looking to pinch pennies stay in the Absecon hotels, at your own risk
