One other thing - we just today announced a New and Improved WCC Leaderboard Challenge, which proved to be extremely popular last year. The Grand Prize this year will be a $10K Package for the Caribbean Poker Party in November, plus there will be weekly prizes and something for everyone in the top 10 at the end of the festival.

By "New and Improved" I mean that we've tweaked the points formula to give more priority to actual event wins, while still awarding at least some points for every buy-in, including all Day 1 buy-ins.

Basically the message is "don't worry, we'll take care of you" if you're from the US and want to play but can't use partypoker to buy in to an event or to get paid out to. BTW partypoker NJ is effectively an unrelated site for purposes of this and other partypoker LIVE events afaik. My understanding is that NJ is essentially a fully walled garden for this kind of thing.
Which events will be paid out through party poker? Is it just the Grand prix?

Yes, that is correct. Players must also buy-in on partypoker - but just for the one event. (and again we will accommodate our USian friends as required)

No - the site is accurate. A few changes were made following the version I posted here, but I am not able to edit or delete that version.

Not sure with deals.. it's only a poker club so no casino. I usually stay in the city of Montreal. So many cheap places to stay... look at any online booking place.

@Carol Trooper thanks.

@mikelbyl just want to say button ante is awesome. i think it'll be a staple in tournament poker in a couple years. saves so much time.

I'm very curious to see button ante in action - I get the concept (it's pretty simple) but I haven't played a tournament with it yet.

Places to stay - there is an "always-on" deal with a pretty nice hotel downtown called Hotel Vogue: check there for details - https://www.playgroundpoker.ca/hotels.

Many people lately have been using AirBnB to find a good place, usually with friends.

Beyond that, there are a ton of good hotels at every price point in central Montreal.

When people haven't been to Playground before they tend to think the whole accommodation thing is going to be a huge pain, but we have a ton of repeat visitors and have done plenty of big events in the past and... it just works. At least I never hear wide complaints or problems.

Concerning the Grand Prix Day 2. I know for making day 2, we received $400 cdn.

When playing Day 2 (live or online), will there be pay jumps, or do you have to make Day 3?

Great question.

There will be a payout schedule that will have regular jumps the same as in any tournament. That being said, with TWO Day 2s (one online, one live), players have an opportunity to cash in both. If you bag a stack in Online Day 2, you will definitely cash and the same applies to Live Day 2. Then it's best stack forward to Day 3 and only one stack per player will be available to continue play and to cash with (or take to the end for the win).

Correct - multi-day events are clearly marked as such.

Remember that as of now you can get all the information that you need via https://www.worldcupofcards.com/

For deposits/withdraws at playground to party poker is it the same exchange rate as party poker offers in the client? Because i have noticed that exchange rate is pretty bad when comparing to xe.com

Is the $1650 CPPT this weekend same day re-entry (Max 4 for event) or next day re-entry (Max 2)
The structure sheet says next day, the event info page says: "One entry and one re-entry permitted per Day 1".
Need to know how much $$ to bring

Also can you give an estimate on how late the $1650 Caribbean Poker Party Satellite will go Sat night.

Thanks & see ya there this weekend.

Hey Rodgethat - when you withdraw from partypoker at Playground, the withdrawal is actually happening on partypoker - they just tell us how much money is released and we will give you that cash. But the transaction itself happens there, so using their exchange rates.

Hey Mike - it's a "pure" next-day re-entry. I'm going to have to have that landing page edited - the structure sheet is correct.

I don't know how long the CPP satellite will go, it depends on a lot of variables. Probably like around 2am but possibly later.

Of course!

You mean the longest, most elaborate entry procession in history, followed by the longest fight in which nothing really happens? Yes, that one will be displayed everywhere.

You know I love Playground and I usually praise everything, but if I may make a couple of points that have upset me so far this series:

1) On a quiet Thursday night, with the main tourney room more than half empty, you put the Crazy Pineapple event in the tent. It was so uncomfortable in there and made me not want to play (freezing cold, poor chairs).

2) On a quiet Friday (yesterday) with relatively low number of entries in the CPPT Day 1A $1650 event, you started the tourney 10-handed, and kept it that way until the end of late reg (4 hours), despite it being obvious that turnout was low.

In both of these cases, I think "common-sense" tournament management could have been employed to fix these obvious detriments to the players.

I did notice that last night the tent was not used when there were a similar number of tourneys (3) and tables in play as on Thursday night, so maybe one of the lessons was already learned...?

Overall, it is a great series and I'll be back tonight for the "The Fight" and most days for the rest of the series.

Hoping I never have to suffer the tent again!

Thanks for the feedback Zpaceman, always appreciated!

Sorry your experience in the tent wasn't very good, that's an ongoing project in some ways, but also quite an important thing to have available at the same time.

Looking forward to the main next week. Haven't played poker in Canada before, is there a currency exchange at the Playground casino or can I pay with US dollars for tourneys? Also, taxi / uber situation at the playground back to Montreal hotels?
thx

You can exchange currency at the Playground cashier at a rate that changes daily. It's not too bad, but not as good as you will get from a lot of commercial currency exchange shops. There are a ton of those downtown.

There is a taxi stand and the company that operates it - Oxford Taxi - offers a flat rate to downtown hotels. I would be sure to discuss this with the driver before you start your trip. The Uber situation is a little strange - an Uber you order in Montreal will bring you to Playground, but we're technically outside of their operational zone so it can be tough to get an Uber back in to Montreal.
