The room was packed on Saturday night. The $125 satellites got going fairly regularly. There were lists for $185s and $245s but didn't get seated by time I left at 10pm. It was odd. The first $125 I played started with $1500t and the very next $125 started with $2000t.

They run with 10 players, The $125 pays $400 to top 3 ($50 goes to dealers). The $185 pays $600 to top 3 and the $245 pays $800 to top 3. You get $100 River chips that can used to play any River events or megas. The casino won't buy them, but you are supposed to be able to get near face value for them as they are so flexible. Gone are the days of having to satellitte into only the very next mega. I didn't see anyone sell thiers and I didn't get approached to buy mine - too early in the season for people to be wanting to buy or sell, I guess.

While I think eventually there will be more STS's run than in previous years, not many people understand the use of lammers. It's a learning curve.

While the floors were promoting the STS's, it takes 10 people to run one and that is the stumbling block, getting 10 people willing to play one. Although they will run them with 9 if everyone agrees to pay the extra $'s to make up the difference of being $125 short in the prize pool.

Re: WinStar 2012 River Series $4,000,000 GUARANTEE BIG CHANGES!!!

Ya when i was there on saturday I had to ask the desk to announce it several times before we could even get 9 people to get a table started at 2pm. Hopefully the tournament crowd will have enough people to get a table or two going though. Also, someone suggested the idea of all tournaments having to be bought with lammers, and the lammers being able to be bought normally through cash or credit card. So that in theory the lammers could be sold at face value. Do you think this would increase the number of people willing to play STS, and would this be beneficial or detrimental to the casino?

You can buy lammers for cash if you want to but there is currently no requirement to buy into tournaments with lammers. Nor is there one planned.

It would be a very bad idea to require the use of lammers to buy in since it would prevent someone from buying in over the phone.

BTW, there is no extra charge of any type associated with buying in via the phone using a credit card.

Lammers are transferable but if you buy a seat, it's yours, it cannot be transferred to another player.

In the two weeks leading up to Labor Day, cash games are bigger and better than normal.

It looks like both hotels have been sold out for that weekend. Are there any hotels nearby that are decent values? I noticed a Best Western online, but the rates are $180 a night so that would seriously cut into my profit margin.
