Plus 13.38% sales tax makes the resort fee a whopping $43.87 on top of the room rate.

Its the same at the other premier resorts in Vegas (Aria, Bellagio, etc.). Allegedly these resort fees allow them to keep more money for themselves instead of giving it to booking services. So, the overall price goes up over time, but the room price goes up slower and the difference is made up by the resort fees. Anyhow, it doesn't give patrons a warm and fuzzy feeling, but now that pretty much all the Vegas hotels have resort fees, they're here to stay.

As an anecdote, many years ago, on my first trip to Vegas, I stayed at one of the youth hostels. It was something like $8/nt. Somehow I managed to survive.

Anyhow, a couple years ago I was doing a hotel search on one of these booking sites and I sorted by lowest to highest price. The first result was the hostel.... $10/nt + $3 resort fee.

A few places have not yet added resort fees. The link below tells you who does and does not charge a resort fee and what you get for it.

I believe most are, though not sure about all. You can check individual event structures at...

What do you get for your resort fee? Hypodermic needles? Gonorrhea?

Playing $600 400k guarantee, what do y'all think of this tournament? Field size, structure, what should first expect to be paid. I have never plaid a Venetian deepstack event what are their policies on chopping, do they facilitate.

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of competition at the $600 pricepoint during that weekend. The first two flights will coincide with the $1500 Millimaker at the Rio. Its hard to say how much traffic that will take, however, some players will bust from the WSOP and come over to play the Venetian event. And day 1C at the Venetian should be quite busy. The equivalent event last year, with only $200K guarantee got 481 runners. I think 800+ is a fair estimate for this event, but its hard to say. It could be significantly higher than that. I doubt very much this one would be in any jeopardy of missing the guarantee, which I believe is something like 750 runners.

I don't have a payout structure sheet handy but for a tourney with 800 entries I would expect 1st place to get ~20%, so 80K+. Over 1000 entries and its probably closer to 18.5 or 19%, so closer to 100K+.

The Venetian structure is quite deep and the room is top notch. You can order food from The Grand Luxe café at the table and put the $10 food comp to good use.

As for field, at that pricepoint you will get a mix of recs and regulars. There will definitely be some amount of "pro" level players given the strong structure, but not as much as you would see at the $1100 or $1600 events. There may also be more seniors for this one since its scheduled right before the Venetian's Seniors event and what is basically "Seniors" week in Vegas.

I typically try to hit at least a few Venetian events while I am in Vegas during the summer. Historically, The Venetian has run the best non-WSOP tourneys during the summer. PH and Wynn have definitely upped their game in recent years, but I haven't seen any evidence that they've caught up yet.

And yes, they do facilitate chops.

Thanks for the infor, I will probably play day 1C hopefully I can register the day before to avoid long lines. Hopefully I can make a deep run and do well. Good luck to anyone playing this summer. I have played at PH, GN, and WSOP in the past but looking forward to playing at Venetian.

Nice start to DSE III, they got 966 entrants for event 1 (compared to 867 last year).

You may want to check in the room or with the TD, but I believe registration for 1C won't open till its over for 1B, so perhaps ~9:00 pm on the night before.

Wow. Massive turnout for the 1100. Hopefully Tommy's bosses at the Venetian see the wisdom in allocating more space next year. This event just keeps growing. Could be a 4MM prize pool easy with more space.
