I would take the over 95 for sure... Tunica had a snowstorm to deal with the day of the main event.

Re: St. Louis WSOP/C schedule announced

It is a shame that except for 5 events, St Louis is a very poor "house friendly" structure designed for only one thing to get the players knocked out as fast as possible. I think the structures they are using in the $500 and above is one of the best structures around, I wish all tourneys were run using it, but most casinos don't care about the players other than to get their money and then get the tourney over with as fast as possible.
But they will get a lot of players, since most players either don't care how bad structures are or don't have clue about structures or they just want action no matter how bad it is.

FWIW - With the Market demographics St Louis has to work with anything under 100 should be considered a complete and utter failure by Harrah's.

Failure to Market the event, failure to engage the poker community, failure to provide timely information about the event, Failure to provide cost effective room, etc

$5,000 is a lot of money - no doubt about it HOWEVER even the Heartland Tour event here drew almost 300 ($1700 buy in) and St Louis should be able to attract players not only from the local area but from Tunica and Chicago IF IT IS MARKETED.

Problem is there has been minimal marketing, minimal notice, and even locally this weekend in discussions with the floor personnel the change in structures was not widely known (Note One copy of the correct structures had been printed out and was at the desk). Also it should be noted that the structure has NOW been changed on Harrah's web site possibly as of this morning as I know it had not been updated as of Saturday.

While the starting chips are a bit on the low side for the $1K and 1.5K the structure is STILL excellent and should help offset the negative of only 8K in initial chips even at $1,500 buy in level.

Since the $1000 and $1500 are Friday Saturday I would like to hope that both runners exceed a minimum of 300 and could honestly reach well above that level. Anything under 250 would be a shame.

IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT NO ATTENTION TO DETAIL WAS ATTEMPTED IN THE WEB SITE CHANGE SINCE THE $500 EVENT #2 / EVENT #8 AS WELL AS THE $1000 AND $1500 EVENTS ALL LISTED WITH APRIL 9, 2010 AS THE START DATE.

BASED UPON THE CURRENT PACE THEY MAY GET THAT CORRECTED BY THE START OF THE EVENTS.

I'd love to see 150 runners, that would be a sick payout for our Midwest town. I agree about the lack of attention to detail, though it seems like there are too many links in the chain from the tournament directors to the marketing aspect. I'm sure Brian wants the site updated as fast as anyone else does, but it seems like it is out of his control to some extent.

Is the above link the correct one for the structures? It appears that several have been fixed to show the structures that have been mentioned ITT.

Re: St. Louis WSOP/C schedule announced

Dan,

There's three $500 + 50 +10 mega satellites on April 12th at 12, 4 and 7pm. I assume there would be 1-table SNGs for the 5k also running when there's enough players?

There is usually a surprisingly large amount of people willing to do a STT for the Main Event, at least based on Tunica. I'll be playing them for sure.

Are there going to be STTs for the preliminary events? If so, when do the STTs begin? Buy-ins? Structure?

Re: St. Louis WSOP/C schedule announced

I made a long post earlier and it is gone.

STTs run whenever they can get ten people to play in one.

Buy-ins are $65-1050. If you win, you receive special chips that can be used to buy into any circuit event, or, you sell them to anyone standing in line.

The structures are fast. If you don't like turbos, you won't like the STTs. A little poking around on the WSOP website will tell you the STT structures.

Hard to know for sure at this point, but I believe the structures are correct but there are several mistakes with the dates.

Event #2 $500 NLHE shows it's on April 9th but it's actually on April 3rd.

Event #9 $1000 NLHE shows it's on April 9th but it's actually on April 10th.

Event #10 $1500 NLHE shows it's on April 9th but it's actually on April 11th.

Event #12 $5000 NLHE shows it's on April 9th but it's actually on April 13th.

I imagine there might be some unhappy campers on the 9th.

I was wondering how these mistakes might affect the fields.

There are two $500 events with the improved structure. One is on the 3rd and one on the 9th.

The structure pdf. incorrectly shows both occurring on the 9th. If you plan on playing the 9th, I'd advise registering early, as some people who want to play a $500 tourney may think this is the only day to play.

Additionally, the pdf. shows the $1000, the $1500, and the $5000 all on the ninth and there may be a small spillover of these players opting to play the $500.

Attendance on the 3rd may suffer as well.

ps: Brian, please tell me incorrectly dated copies of the structure are not being handed out in the room.

I was able to get a room at Courtyard by Marriot for $50 a night using priceline. You may want to try lower if you are still looking for a room as it accepted $50 on my first bid. Here is a link to the hotel.

Wow, it got updated much quicker than I expected. The dates have been corrected with one minor exception.

The date for the Main Event (April 13th) is obscured by the WSOP chip logo. It follows the events listed for the 12th though, so not a big deal. Even a moron like me could deduce it's on the 13th.

Re: St. Louis WSOP/C schedule announced

Hello all...I am new to this forum and I'm looking to join one of the NL tourneys at Harrahs in the upcoming circuit...

(1)What can I do to prepare myself for playing live poker for the first time??

(2)And since registration begins at 2pm but I won't be able to get there until 3pm-ish, registration won't "cap off" at any point will it?? I know there will be a record turnout since this is the first of such events for st. Louis

(3)And I was looking at the structure sheet, what is the difference between the $1500 main event tourney and the $5000 main event tourney??? Obviously the payouts will be different and I guess the buy-ins but do these have anything to do with the vegas 2010 main event??

(1) Read the TDA rules - THIS IS IMPORTANT - Many rules are not what you are used to in local events.
Be prepared for much slower play than online -if that is your background.
Wear something comfortable and consider bringing along some energy bars or drinks (small duffle or lunch bag) . You may feel like a dork but after 10 hours or so of play you will understand the importance. If you get bounced at the first level, who cares, just grab your bag and go.
Get a good nights rest the day before.
Read a book on tells - not that you will be able to necessarily see them in others but it will help you control your own.
HAVE FUN - enjoy the experience.

2 Registration only begins at 2:00 on the FIRST DAY. Registration will be open probably by 9:00AM everyday thereafter. Even with a BIG first day field they will NOT sell out before Friday Morning for event #1. AND they are taking alternates in some if not all of the Noon Events per Jimmy S (TD)

3 Reread your sheets on the Harrah's site the $1500 buy in is just event #11 and the largest buy in other than Event #12 $5,000 which is the Championship event. The Championship is the only event that includes a buy in to the WSOP ME in Las Vegas

Good luck to you
