she was able to get that rate for people during the 5k. Just hopin that William is able to convince the higher ups to get us a rate for this one.

Wow, so one good thing is the full $5k is going towards the prize pool. $150 is for the dealers/staff and the rake is $150. So the rake is only 3%. Unlike a lot of these big tournaments that take out an extra 2-3% from the prize pool for the staff

40 min levels for first 9 levels of a $5k $10 million dollar event is unacceptable. They are trying to rush people through to create reentries.

compared to some other events I looked at the structure is fine. 40min levels is questionable but it improves as the tournament go on.

Kessler is a punching bag for being vocal about issues that most regulars agree with but the same regulars would always remain silent as to not seem whiny or uncool. He calls it like he sees it and it isn't just for his benefit. 40min lvls for a $5k "prestigious" event seems really tacky.

Thanks for your support justice. This $5k structure is far worse than the $3500 wpt we just played at the same venue.

recreational players dont care about the difference between 40 and 60 minute levels as long as they get an "acceptable" amount of play

this will be the softest non-wsop field all year because of the guarantee

kessler isnt wrong in any way, but weak players chasing a piece of the $10,000,000 is what makes this worth it

Recreational players still want value for their $5k buyin. A lot may actually choose not to reenter once they see how short the levels are.

It's unusual, if not unprecedented, to see a 4- or 5-day event in which a player who breaks even on Day 1 starts Day 2 with only 15 big blinds. While I was impressed with the cleverness of the 40-then-60 minute Day 1 structure when I first looked, now I'm reconsidering making the trip. That's a rapid escalation for a $5,000-$15,000+ event.

Originally, it was going to be a 6-day event -- 1A/B/C plus 2-6.

Allen is right about the structure. In the time I've been playing I don't think there's ever been a $5K+ main event that had 40 minute levels.

Good point todd I've been traveling the circuit since 2005 and never seen a $5k plus event this fast for the reentry period.

Obviously I respect most of the people's opinions in regard to this, but I honestly never considered it would be any different than it's listed. It has to end at some point, and there's no way to please everybody. Some people could dedicate 10 days to a poker tournament, but most people can't (especially those that we all WANT to be playing).

If the guarantee is met then we could estimate around 60M chips in play, even if players get HU with 100bb averages (possible, but unlikely), we are talking about 150k/300k blinds, it's going to take about 20 hours of play (excluding breaks) to get there starting with Day 3 and beyond with another ~5 hours added on if HU averages are closer to 50bbs.

First off let me start by saying I applaud the effort of the new COO of the Seminole Gaming Mr. Larry Mullen for being such a huge supporter of the game of poker. Putting up a $10,000,000 guarantee in this economy directly following the WSOP takes a LOT of guts!

William Mason and his team have been mandated to "make it work" by running over one hundred satellites and megas most with multiple seat guarantees at most Seminole Hard Rock properties. Look for the satellite schedule to come out very soon and trust me there will be overlays.


The structure listed here is a GREAT one and basically a copy of the WPT standard structure with a couple of changes. There is a 25-50 level that is not in the WPT structure and the final table levels will continue at 90 minutes even at heads up (WPT-Starts 60/ 30 HU). I have designed this tournament to be for everyone and NOT just the pros that can play a 10 day tournament. This event takes 7 days to complete but more importantly starts on a Thursday (1A), Friday (1B), and Saturday (1C) and will be in the money on day day 2 Sunday so those that are still in Monday have a legitimate reason to call in and take time off. Going deep into the money day three (Monday) the days will be shorter and the levels will be longer (90 minutes) making the structure really deep and offering a lot of play when it matters the most. 7 days is LONG enough for a tournament in my opinion and truly believe this tournament will be one of the greatest in history.

i'm not as upset by the structure as some other people itt are...but just wanted to point out that a 25/50 level is honestly just pointless. i would much rather see those 40 minutes split up and add 5 or 10 minutes to other levels or even add 20 to 2 levels so you can start 60 min levels earlier
