Would you guys vote cash games or single table SNGs? My buddy has about $3000 to his name and is coming down for 3 weeks. Not sure what to tell him. I'd say he is equally as good in cash and SNGs. What about the daily 2pm DS?
$3K for 3 weeks grinding midstakes cash during high-variance WSOP is literally suicide, that's my advice... and if he's any good like you said then he should have a lotttttt more to "his name".

I would estimate the 330 being done 10-11pm and the 550 being done around 3am.

Thanks. Just realized that the mega schedule when I arrive is all $550 which I actually prefer. Plus they run at 10 and 4.

Full disclosure. What I posted is how I played online SNG's. Never played WSOP satellites, but pretty sure I'd base my play on what I wrote.

That said, I'm not saying you shouldn't adjust your game if some spewy players show up at your table as 663366 suggests. You should definitely play early (keeping pots under control, in my opinion), and I'd personally play more hands if there are obvious fish involved. However, I still think it's a pretty big mathematical/ICM error if you go out early by getting involved in flips or other high variance situations in the first few levels.

Playing the Rio SNGs to pick up WSOP lammers - advice?

My friend Rock is playing in the Bracelet Bounty event. I was thinking about playing in a couple of the SNG sats & Supersats that award $500 lammers. I might play in the Bracelet Bounty if I win one, but probably not - I'm more likely to just sell them for cash.

Anyone play in these games? I hear they're soft, but what advice do you have?

First few levels? That's all there are. Most of them are finished in 5 levels.

You don't get enough chips to splash around in a lot of pots.

I think he's referring to mtt's not sng type sattys. I think this should be my approach in the mtt play loose early and try to flop a set and hope some fish will gift me their stack then tighten up as inds get higher

No worries about that--1k's are running all the time now, maybe with a small wait...

He was talking about SNG's earlier.

Any chance they'll offer 5k sngs near the 50k Players Championship?

Re: Rio WSOP satellite thread

Just as an update, everyone had me worried about selling lammers from the satellites, but it was really simple for me. I just got in line for the registration and asked people around me. It probably helped that it was the 1k event so there were a healthy amount of people around.

It's probably easier to pull this off during an event with more players since there is a larger pool to sell to and security has to worry about more bodies. Try selling them in line and then leave.

Re: Rio WSOP satellite thread

How can you talk about ICM in a winner-take-all satellite? There is no difference between tournament equity and chip equity at any point in the tournament, unlike a standard SNG, where the marginal value of your last chip when down to four players is enormous.

It's chopped 90% of the time 2 or 3way.

Your WTA strategy is still necessary bc your value in the chop is based on your chip stack, not laddering through preset prizes
