Re: Wsop sattalite advice

I disagree. Live players don't play like online players. Especially with the fast live structure and small starting stack.

Re: Wsop sattalite advice

OP brings back memories....

I was heads up for the 5th grade spelling bee championship.

The other kid said, "s-a-t-e-l-i-t-e." I said, "s-a-t-t-e-l-i-t-e."

The spelling bee was ruled a push.

How are the STT sats? Does the structure allow decent play? How are the players?

Re: Wsop sattalite advice

Here's my standard SNG Strategy. This IMHO works especially well in satellite's where multiple people win the same prize - (ie 2 people get an entry and neither gets anything extra for winning).

1. Play super, super tight early. Setmine and play for a big hand. Don't ever go to your death with a one pair hand early. If you are one of the first two people knocked out, you probably (but not always) did something dumb.

2. In the mid stages, don't play speculative hands. Suited Connectors or worse. You simply don't have the odds to make calls to continue draws. Only play big hands - ABC poker.

3. Late in the game (15bb's or less) play solid ICM poker. If you don't know about this, google pushbot charts or read Kill Everyone. This strategy is pretty standard for MTT's but is applicable for the SNG end game as well.

In short, patience is key early, which buys you a nitty/tight table image for when you have to start making plays late.

Good Luck!

Lower buy-ins are pretty fast. Start 1k, blinds 25/25, then 25/50, 50/100, 100/200, 150/300 (I think), 200/400. Levels are 15 mins.

Players are weak and these are vey beatable. Small as sample, as played a few over a few days, but my ROI was > 100% (pretty sure I chopped every time when down to last 2).

Re: Rio WSOP satellite thread

What would be the best way (hourly) for a live mid-stakes NLH player to grind up his roll at the WSOP?

Would you guys vote cash games or single table SNGs? My buddy has about $3000 to his name and is coming down for 3 weeks. Not sure what to tell him. I'd say he is equally as good in cash and SNGs. What about the daily 2pm DS?

Re: Rio WSOP satellite thread

Why do the structure pdfs for the ME satellites say that they pay out one seat for $10,200 in buyins and not for every $10,000? Is that extra $200 just a hidden rake? I'm thinking of playing one of these while I'm in town next week, and this probably won't keep me from playing it if the fields are as soft as some of you say, but this is kind of shady isn't it?

They give you 10,000 in tournament lammers and 200 cash, presumably so you can tip the dealer.

Anyone have experience with how long the $330 and $550 mega sats to main are lasting?

while a lot of people who master these satty's would completely disagree... at the start is when the worst players give away their chips and if you double/triple up you could literally cruise to the bubble needing just to win one or two flips to score a main event seat. that's how a friend of mine does it and he's won something like 10 main event seats in the last 2-3 years.
