Re: Rio Daily Deepstacks (during wsop)

Today's tournament got 640 runners and there was an 8 way chop for 9900.

And the guy in the 9 hole screwed the Canadian who claimed first. Which in turn made seat two get screwed out of some money (Unless Canadian guy made it right with him). We left before it got to that part as my Dutch buddy didn't want to be involved.

Hey man,
FWIW I was the kid who 'claimed' second and was in charge of chopping up my money, the 9 holes money, and actually seat 7s money as well.
I am 100% positive I paid the canadian exactly what I was supposed to because he was so upset, my math was as follows (roughly I have exact numbers in my truck).

I collected 16800 from cage for #2
I collected 1300 from seat 9 which was left over after he took 3rd place money
I collected 2500 from seat 7s payout

So I had 20700.
-9800 i paid out to seat 7=10800
-9800 i paid out to myself=1000
I have no idea why the Canadian thought I was supposed to give him 2k from the money I had received. I did end up giving him an extra 100 just because it was worth it to make him go away.

I really wish those guys had stuck around instead of running out but I think that the canadian's math was just bad. I should never trust anyone else to deal with their own money if it may affect me .

He was also frustrated because he completely volunteered to be the guy to deal with the taxes but that meant he didn't get a lot of cash up front since almost all of his share will be coming back as a tax refund.

Almost worth not chopping just to not deal with this crap.

I always hate dealing with chops, expecially if its more then 3 way. I always ensure we write down with names exactly what the deal including who is paying or collecting what to the person dealing out the cash and everyone gets in line at the same time.

9 way I would have no idea the best way to chop.

I wrote down everything I paid money out to/from. I doubt the canadian did, so he is going to get HOSED tax time. I tried telling him...

Re: Rio Daily Deepstacks (during wsop)

Doing chops with people, especially so many in one deal, who have not regularly cashed for amounts such as being dealt with in these, or other large tournaments/series has to be -ev. From the headache point of view, and other factors such as someone leaving, not going to cashier with everyone else etc. Especially when some casino's including wsop don't facilitate paperwork with deal making. If I were going to chop one of these it would be heads up, or maybe 3 handed.

Yeah, chopping at a casino that doesn't facilitate chops is a disaster waiting to happen.

Of course, it'd be nice if Caesars would just facilitate chops like most other places, but that would involve being somewhat player friendly.

Re: Rio Daily Deepstacks (during wsop)

I'm saying if i was like top 3 in chips, 9 handed I obv would not take a deal because of factors mentioned before, and skill edge. If I were a short stack, I would not say anything and listen to the lol style deal making that goes on in these, and then just agree if my payout was justifiable due to ICM, without telling others I was calculating that for myself. It's just a major headache to start getting involved with so many people for a deal like this. But yeah, if they offered me 10k or whatnot as a short stack I'd snap take it.

Played the $135 10PM a few days ago. Pretty soft and ended around 5AM. Made ITM but winner got about $4,500. Not a bad days work. About 150 people signed up. Top 18 get paid.

Re: Rio Daily Deepstacks (during wsop)

When we chopped a few days ago every had between 15 and 20 bbs, playing it out would be silly.

If anyone had less than 10 bbs I wouldn't have chopped, if I had over 30bbs I wouldn't have chopped, but the shorties had been doubled or knocked out and it's a variance fest from there on.
Chopping isn't a bad thing under the right conditions. Don't be afraid of it. Besides 'practicing' your short handed game against these guys isn't worthwhile
