I think pstars one size fits all format for their tournament series will be a failure in New Jersey. Too many tournaments in one day and the buy ins are too low. People aren't going to take off of work for a $200 tournament.

It will be interesting to see how popular that ME is. I checked out the structure online (30K starting chips, 75 minute blinds), and on paper it seems like it would be great for an 1100 tourney. However, its hard to tell how long its supposed to go based on the dates shown here so far. Are their 3 starting days, and this is scheduled to be a 3 day tourney? Or is it scheduled for 5 days? With such a deep structure early, its hard to imagine it being done in 3 days, and if its not, it will be a turn-off for rec players.

Also, the schedule itself doesn't seem to be very rec-friendly. Tue-Sat? I don't think very many people are going to take that kind of time off to go to AC in the middle of November unless they put some ridiculous guarantee up (highly unlikely). It would seem a much more rec-friendly, (and therefore prize-pool friendly) schedule would be Wed/Thu/Fri day 1s with day 2/3 over the weekend. And a faster structure early, too to make sure it doesn't bleed into Mon.

Thanks. I figured it was something like that, though I thought there would be three day ones and it would be scheduled to finish on day 3. It makes sense they would need a fourth day considering how deep the starting structure is.

My personal feeling is the length of this event makes it less appealing. I can understand how a professional might appreciate such a slow structure from the beginning. However, as a rec player myself, its difficult to take so much time off from my day job. Its looking like one is going to have to play the better part of two days, mid-week, just to make the money. I understand the appeal to some, but that's quite a grind.

If they had 40 minute levels day one, they could afford to have 3 day ones (wed/thu/fri, for instance), and then the tourney would wrap up by Sunday. Rec players could come for the Friday flight. Having played tourneys with all sorts of starting structure, I feel like 40-45 minute day one levels is right in the sweetspot. Not too fast to make it a donkfest. And not so slow that the time investment becomes a chore.

I have no idea if Resorts would be able to handle a tourney that is really appealing to rec players, so maybe they're not necessarily looking to get a massive field. But this definitely seems like it will be a pro-heavy event. Anyhow, I'm sure it will be fun for those that play it.

Having the 1k start on 10/30 is horrible too. Day 2 is on Halloween. Anyone with small kids won't play it

Schedule really looks good. More events under 500$ than EPT/PCA, and a lot of different games.
IMO that's exactly what a "PS Festival" should be: a big main event around 1000$, a few big (2000$+) events, and many 200-500$ tournaments with NLH and non-NLH variants.
I hope the online sats will run soon, as the Festival starts at the end of next month.

They needed guarantees to make this work. Even borgata dailies have small guarantees.

I am surprised by very high rake in flipouts. Currently, all 3 flipouts are listed at $100+20. Typically, in most European PokerStars series, flipouts have much lower rake compared to regular tournaments as they are well duh... flipouts and get completed almost instantaneously.

$100+10 or $110+10 would be much more fair for those, particularly considering 3% for the dealers is subtracted already.
