Are there any special taxation laws in Canada for American (foreign) tournament players?
Such as auto deductions at the cage... similar to 30% holdback for foreigners in US.
Thanks

Zero withholding in Canada - it's one of the five reasons Pokernews says you should be playing poker in Canada. The horrible 30% withholding in the US is the reason why most Canadian players have 100% risk of ruin if they keep travelling to the US to buy into tournaments.

The PokerStars Canada Cup series is available to everyone! We expect a large number of our US friends, in fact.

how many people are you expecting for the final event?

There's no way to predict, especially not at this point. With a $2M Guarantee we're obviously pretty certain that we'll surpass 667 players. I think it could easily get past 1K total entries. But that's really speculation. PokerStars is already getting a lot of players into the event via sats so that's encouraging, and I've already seen quite a bit of TV advertising which is also a good sign.

400 + alternates for Days 1a and c; 350 + alternates for Days 1b and d.

BTW capacity for the PokerStars Main Event is 500 + alternates per Day 1.

Is there a similar overlay sat. event for the PStars main as there was for the WPT?

I don't think so. We just published the full schedule for April and it wasn't on it - I'll double check tomorrow to make sure there won't be one at the very beginning of May.

Yes in fact this IS happening - it's not on the April Schedule because it's going to happen right at the beginning of May.

Tomorrow's sat on PStars is a $200+$15 w/ 1 rebuy, looks like they're increasing the buyins to generate more seats/reduce overlay.

This is a good start. The $320 on Sunday is the best one they've offered yet (structure wise) and should get around 20 runners if they stick with the current satellite offerings.

they should bring back the lower buy ins. not many people are gonna want to play 200 rebuys to a 3k event

It's the rebuy part that puts people off imo. Why Pstars doesn't just run a regular $215 freeze out with a good structure is beyond me. (duplicate the $320 structure that will run on Sunday) With properly timed sats (and they need a lot more) this would go off without a hitch every night. Yet instead of following free advise from someone that has played thousands of sats to various regional Live events and knows to a near science what does and doesn't work, they are throwing mud at the wall with new buy ins/structures and hoping something sticks. This is not a complicated thing. With the right supersats in place this tourney would never overlay and would run every night guaranteed. 3 seat guarantees would be feasible and 5 if the work was put in for Sundays. I'm sort of frustrated because like many I'd like to play this tourney nightly but you never know if it's even going to run... the 1091r1a needed 9 players to run earlier this week (didn't run) and then they change it to 5 min players for tonight.

mikelbyl, any details yet on the Mega Satellite? Will it probably be on May 1-4, Thursday - Sunday? I want to start planning for our return trip to Playground, including the castle if I can find enough friends interested.

Are there any satellites, either live or online, to the 10K? I haven't seen anything anywhere and there was nothing on the schedule. Can I buy in for the 10K as well as the main online with $T?

Is there re-entry in the 10K?

It could be done with the right feeder sats but it would take a lot of effort and precision. I doubt they think it's worth the effort.

I qualified online and was told online qualifiers were to play the 1A. Contacted Dave at Playground to put me on 1B (work purposes) and said it is all good. Should I take his word for it?
