Hey guys, this might not be the place for this thread but i figured i would start here and maybe you guys can move the thread or redirect me to a previous thread with the same questions/answers.

I'm from the US and have a bucket list to travel and play in an EPT, LAPT, and ACOP/APPT event (one of each). I'm wondering if anyone has any travel advice; preferably from someone thats already done it already. I recently was looking at possibly playing the ACOP in Macau and researched how to travel there as easily as I could in terms of where to fly into, where to stay, if i needed a visa etc etc. It soon became pretty overwhelming the amount of information so i was looking to see if anyone had direct advice of not only traveling there but maybe some places to visit while I'm there.

I'm planning on playing just a small side event and some cash but i figured if I'm going to visit a place, it might as well be some place that has a big poker event going on. As far as possible candidates for each place, I was thinking about Peru for LAPT, Barcelona for EPT (was considering Prague but it's in December and idk about eastern europe during the winter lol), and obv Macau for and APPT/ACOP event (wouldn't be opposed to japan or korea either). These are just plans that i have for the future and I'm looking to possibly play in each of these in the next coming years. Any advice would be awesome; thanks guys!

Also if you guys know some other side poker events happening in the world that are really good; please share! thanks again!

Hi kidwang,

You don't need a visa to enter Macau. You'll be allowed to stay for 30 days upon entry. Best way to get there is to fly to Hong Kong and then take a ferry from the HK Airport (there are 'transfer ferry' signs everywhere) to Macau.

Hotel is really just a matter of budget and preference. Plenty of options from online sites.

Good luck!

As Fred said, Macau is actually quite easy to get to as it's close to HK which is a big international hub.

From the US I believe it's quite easy to get to Barcelona, and the casino is only a 20 min taxi drive from the airport. Quite a few hotel options near by too. The EPT event is absolutely massive with lots of events and thousands of people, but in the past some people have been locked out of events and it can take hours to get on a cash game table. Still worth the experience though imo.

Prague (which is Central, not Eastern Europe) in December is beautiful, don't count it out. The Christmas markets are excellent, lot's of bars and restaurants, and there's tons of poker to be played between the EPT and other festival going on at the same time in the Corinthia (WPT etc).

Also have a look at the Aussie Millions in Melbourne in January. Melbourne is an awesome city and AM usually overlaps with the Australian Open tennis, so it's a great time to be there.

WSOP in Berlin this October (I think) will be great. Berlin is probably my favourite city in Europe.

Never been to an LAPT, but Peru would be my choice too, or Sao Paolo which I think is their biggest.

Hi Kid,

Agree with what everyone else said.

My pick for LAPT would be either Peru (go to Machu Picchu, amazing, once in a lifetime experience!) or LAPT/BSOP Millions in late November early December (largest poker festival in South America). http://www.lapt.com/tournaments/grandfinal/

My pick for EPT is Barcelona or Prague for balance between experience and poker. Just decide if you want the beach and clubs or Christmas markets and castles Both will have tons of events from €100 to €50K, probably more than 70 events at each stop. Nooo is correct that cash game availability is worse in Barcelona than Prague, but the weather is better to compensate.

For Asia, ACOP is the best and Macau is awesome! Danny and Fred take really good care of everyone who comes out for their events!

Happy travelling! Let us know when you're heading over

Cheers,

Neil
