Greg, I just played an event there, and self-park is indeed still free. As you probably know, the self-parking makes you walk through half of the Miracle Mile mall, but valet parking pick up/drop off is right at the hotel. However, valet parking is $18 for 4+ hours of parking.
As for the event, they still have lots of teething problems. They started my event while the dealer was still making up chip stacks. They eventually did pause it after some complaints. We had one dealer that appeared to be dealing her first down. Then at the opposite end of the spectrum we had a Civil War veteran that moved so slow the first card had dust on it by the time we got the second card. We're always hearing about so many unemployed dealers in town, it's hard to believe this is the best they could do.
I did not play at PH last year because of the dealer issues and what I consider very poor lighting. I had heard that the lighting had improved, but I stopped in last month and did not appear so. The dealers I had two years ago were pleasant; but unbearably slow. Better choices.

I played the horse event, busted a few levels after registration closed. I really enjoyed it, I thought the dealers were ok considering the circumstances. The structure was faster than it needed to be but that doesn't bother me. I don't like the fact that people can register so late into the tournement. The level increase announcements were delayed a few times, but honestly no real complaints.

Missing Event 1 guarantee by about $40k. That's not a good sign.
No, it isn't. Hard to say what the cause was, but I imagine going head to head with the Venetian didn't help. They had nearly an identical event over the same time period and got 50 more entries with one less day 1.
don't come true and the more significant events perform relatively better than this first one. I just don't get the scheduling logic Chris used for some of these NLH events this year.
Poker players like overlays, for obvious reasons. However, it's short-sighted. Having overlays makes venues more reluctant to offer larger guarantees, which means smaller prize-pools.
If one wants bigger prize-pools, fewer overlays would be better. So, instead of celebrating them, we as poker players should be encouraging TDs to do what they can to prevent them... things like avoiding scheduling conflicts, etc.
Ya I really hope they get things figured out, starting to sound/feel like the February Circuit event at Rio, which was ran pretty bad. And I believe same staff/TD worked that event. I'm still gonna give em a shot starting with the $600 Milly, hopefully kinks are worked out.
Which is incorrect on PH structures - the 250k said it played 17 levels on day 1, and reg was open til the start of level 18, which means you could register straight on day 2. But on the Goliath 1M it says it plays 16 levels on day 1 and you can only surrender/register until the start of level 16. I guess neither has to be incorrect, but seems odd you can reg until day 2 on only 1 of these 2 nearly identical tournies.
And, wow...did the 250k 5pm flights really go until nearly 6am? Haven't heard first hand, but 17 levels x 40 minutes plus 90 mins of breaks....didn't even think about this until I was looking at the Goliath Milly comin up next week and realizing the 5pm flights would be going until after 5am with 16 levels x 40m and 90m of breaks. Now I'm really feelin the pressure to bag an 11am flight! I assume this is why there's no 5pm flight on the final day, would make too late a night to come back the next day even for a 2pm restart.

There is a difference between a new dealer and a bad dealer. I would have enjoyed playing here more if some could have figured out that when a nervous new dealer is trying his best, yelling wont make things go faster. (And of course this led to other players yelling at the douches etc)
