Hi Guy's,

Many live tournaments have multiple day 1's.
Like day 1a, day 1b and day 1C.

How Does this work?
If you register day 1a and you bust at the end of the day. Can you rebuy into day 1b of day 1c or do you just have to pick 1 day 1 and that's it?

Depends on the tournament but generally, yes, you can buy into another flight.

But why is day 1C almost always the most popular?
If you enter early you have more changes?

It's a culmination of people entering that flight first AND entries from people from both previous flights who haven't made Day Two yet.

Some people don't care about "more chances". They only have 1-2 bullets. Some don't wanna play a tournament for 6 days, so they pretend the first few flights just aren't there.

For example during WSOP I'm not playing any 1A, 1B's of venetian events. I might fire the last day but I don't wanna risk making day 2 and having to skip 3 days of bracelet events.

As other have said, it depends on the tourney, so you definitely want to check out the structure sheet and info for the particular event you're interested in.

In general, those tourneys that allow re-entry will always allow you to re-enter on a subsequent day 1. Some tourneys (perhaps most), and particularly those which have liberal re-entry rules, will allow you to re-enter the same day. In those cases, you will either be able to re-enter same day as many times as you like, or perhaps only once, depending on the rules.

Some events allow you to forfeit your stack without busting, in case you wanted to re-enter a future starting day and found yourself short stacked near the end of day 1. This is usually how it works.

Other events allow you to re-enter regardless of whether you made day two previously. These are known as Best-Stack-Forward (BSF) events. Essentially these eliminate the issue I described here, however BSF raises other issues which some players don't like.

Pretty much what other have said, plus its the last chance to get in the tourney. So you get procrastinators, and other people making a last minute decision to play.

The last day 1 also tends to have more people who have won entry through a satellite, if applicable for a particular tourney.

Sometimes the bigger field on the last of the several day 1's is just a matter of the calendar. If day #2 is a Saturday and you're planning to come to Vegas for the weekend, you play day 1 on Friday. Playing day 1 on Thursday requires an extra day on the trip.
