LAPT SEASON 7 (Season 8 schedule announced) LAPT SEASON 7 (Season 8 schedule announced)

Yesterday I won the package for LAPT/BSOP Sao Paulo (entry, hotel and $), I'm from Argentina and would like to know where i have to confirm my seat, hotel, when to book flights, etc since the World Cup will be a week after the event and I feel I shouldn't waste time for those things... Thanks

The televised table of Day 1A (pre-dinner break) has been stacked with great players and high profile personalities:

Nacho Barbero - Team Pokerstars Pro
David Williams - Team Pokerstars Pro
Leo Fernandez - Team Pokerstars Pro
Amos Ben - LAPT PoY 2013
Daniel Ospina - LAPT PoY 2012
Damien Salas - former Full Tilt Red Pro
Bruno Kawauti - 888 Team Pro
Lynn Gilmartin - WPT anchor, TV personality

With approx. 175 runners, mostly unknowns, it is odd that arguably the most famous people in the room are 'randomly' assigned to the same table. Leo Fernandez was even sat again at the TV table after busting and re-buying. It must be all about the ratings

Hi alejolb,

Congratulations on winning your LAPT/BSOP package. You should have recieved an email confirming the dates and the hotel address. You will not need to confirm anything as your package is already confirmed and a room will be booked in your name. There are instructions in the email on which dates to arrive and how long you have the hotel.

If you have not received the email, please check your junk box and if you cannot locate it, contact us at info@pslive.com and we can resend it.

Once again, congrats.

Thanks,
-thomas

Hi Thomas, is there gonna be a september stop? or that's already ruled out, also are the Lapt Brazil side events gonna be considered the same as the BSOP side events or there are gonna be other ones, like mix games in BSOP Millions last year, ty.

Hi paulandrew2,

We don't have SNGs on the schedule but we would be more than happy to run them if we have interest. Just ask the floor team anytime you want to play and we will announce and see if we can get some going.

Thanks,

Hi hidequick,

The September stop has been cancelled due to local licensing issues. We will continue to work to try and get something done for season 8. The side events for the LAPT/BSOP Sao Paulo, Brazil are already up on the website, you can see them here:

Hi hidequick,

Yes, we are only running full packages on those days on the LAPT part of the client. The BSOP qualifiers on the client are sligthly different and they run a full package on Wednesdays. Please look under the tab EVENT --> More --> BSOP for their qualifiers.

Thanks,
-thomas

Hi hidequick,

Yes, they are the same packages but the hours and types of tournaments are geared more towards the Brazilian market.

Can anyone explain the tax situation in Brazil? It says foreigners will have 15% withheld, is it possible to get that back?

Hi jordankickz,

Sorry for the delay in this response. I was hoping a player would chime in with their experience on this matter. 15% is withheld from winnings for taxes but I don't know how your current/local taxation office would view this. I suggest you talk to a tax laywer in your area for some advice on the matter.

Thanks,

I think (not 100% sure) it all has to do with whether your country has a tax treaty (to avoid double taxation) with Brazil or not. The US doesn't.

At the bottom is a list of all countries who does (source: http://www.receita.fazenda.gov.br/Le...sDuplaTrib.htm)

However this is a delicate topic, so I strongly recommend consulting a tax lawyer since there's a lot of confusing/misinformation around.

Re:BSOP Incidentally …y have they chosen a hotel which is the middle of nowhere and with such bad reviews, not very inviting to player travelling from abroad.

It's not easy to find hotels big enough to accomodate everyone and yet right enough to accomodate a poker tournament.

The Holiday Inn is not that good, but not that bad. Most people don't mind staying there.

Also it's in the middle of nowhere but not really that far (you're 10-15min from wherever you want to go)

===
Apartments and hotels in Rio are REALLY expensive, specially during that time. I recommend you book early, specially if you want to be near the beaches etc (because Rio is different than sao paulo: you're either near to everything or REALLY far. The city is concentrated on the south zone)

Going by car from SP to Rio isn't dangerous, but you should avoid going at night just to avoid missing the right way etc.

Thankyou Marcus for ur reply… Much appreciated.

Regarding staying in Rio, obviously I would like to have a good memorable experience.
Really just need a room in apartment, for 4 nights 4th-8th June. Am Non-smoker/dinker.
Any suggestion would be very helpful.

Thanyou again

Glad to hear you haven't started dinking again... tough habit to quit I'm sure.

Hope you can make it to Nottingham my friend and have a great time in Brazil.

I think it´s because it´s very cheap for them to rent the place for the tournament. This hotel is most likely the worst place I have ever played a poker tournament in the world. There is nothing near it such as food options or cheaper hotels. The food is bad, expensive and you have no other options. There is a river in one side, an airport at the other side and a convention center at the other... so basically you get trapped in the middle of nowhere
