LAPT Season 5 Panama September 26-30, 2012

Hi all,

We have announced a new stop for the LAPT which will take place in Panama City, Panama. Its a great city with easy access from any where in the world as it is the main hub for Central America.

You can read more about it here:

http://www.lapt.com/tournaments/panama/

Hope to see you all there.

Thanks,
-thomas

How close is this hotel to the beach? If close how nice is the beach.

Very nice that you put a stop in Central America and will likely attend.

Hi Sect7G,

Glad to hear you are thinking about coming. I have been to Panama quite a few times but never to the beach. From what I understand the beaches close to the city are not great. However, if you come early or stay a few days after there are some wicked beaches and islands fairly close by. The Panama is more well known for "city life".

Thanks,
-thomas

Thomas,
Will direct buy-in from our Pokerstars account be allowed for the main event and sides in Panama?

Hi Shannon,

Yes, you will be able to buy into any event except the satellites.

Thanks,

I'm thinking of heading down for this one. Is there anyone looking for a roommate?

Re: LAPT Season 5 Panama September 26-30, 2012

Hello Thomas,

I wanna travel to Panama and play the main event. And if I bust out also the side events. This will be my first LAPT so I have a question.

A friend told me that when you win a prize they only give you a maximum of US$ 5,000 in cash and the other part of the prize goes to your PokerStars account.

What happens if you don't have a PokerStars account? I just play live so I don't have one and I wouldn't like to create one to receive the prize if i will never play online.

In those cases do you give 100% of the prize in cash? or what is the procedure?

Hi Elizabeth_23,

Our payout policy has a restriction on the amount of cash that will be paid out but exceptions can be made depending on the situation. I think if you win a large amount, I don't think it would be very safe to travel with it.

Thanks,
-thomas

Re: LAPT Season 5 Panama September 26-30, 2012

Thanks for the answer Thomas.

I agree with you, it wouldn't be safe. But maybe there are other methods.

I also wrote to registrations@pslive.com yesterday and they told me this:

Players who register using cash, will be able to get cash for any prize they win up to $10k USD. If the prize is larger than $10k, other alternatives might be considered (a bank wire for instance).

Can you confirm me that?

Thanks a lot, sorry to bother you.

Greetings,
Eli

Hi Eli,

No bother at all. We don't have bank wires available at all our events. In this case, the casino might be able to help with a wire but that would be a case of you depositing the funds into an a casino account. If you win a large prize I am sure we would be able to figure something out. Do you reside in the USA?

Thanks,
-thomas

Thomas,
Will there be a way to cash out (wire, check, etc) for people who live in the US? Are tourney buyins in USD? Thanks

Hello everyone,

I will confirm the possibility of wiring funds to US players for prizes in the next 2 days, but it is highly likely to be available. I just want to do a simple check before comfirming.

Regards,
David

Hello,

I confirm that if you are a US resident, you will be able to be paid via wire if that is your choice. Your other choice will be cash, or a split cash/transfer.

regards,
David
