Paul O’Reilly and JP McCann are happy to announce details of the Irish Poker Open 2017, which will take place from 27th March – 3rd April 2017 in the prestigious Citywest Hotel, Dublin. The buy-in for this event will remain at €1025 + €125 with €500,000 Guaranteed and the festival will once again feature a full schedule of side events and cash games to capture the imagination of poker players both recreational and professional.

Online satellites are now taking place on paddypowerpoker.com, Betfair.com and partypoker.com with a wide range of entry level amounts. Ipoker network wide satellites will be starting shortly.

The Irish Poker Open is the longest running No Limit Texas Hold'em poker festival in Europe and the second most historic in the world after the World Series of Poker, Las Vegas. First organized in 1981 by Terry Rogers, a well-known Irish bookmaker, the tournament is now world famous for its electric atmosphere, the famous poker faces that return every year, and the Irish craic had by all. The Irish Poker Open is unique in it's player experience due to a full live entertainment schedule to accompany the extensive poker schedule. The entertainment schedule will include live music, sumo wrestling and pool and beer pong competitions.

The big change this year is that the Irish Poker Open is not running across Easter weekend. The opportunity arose last year to merge the Irish Poker Open and Norgesmesterskapet i poker to create a bigger 18 day poker festival. The Burlington Hotel just wasn't big enough for what we have planned for the future of the event. In agreeing to move the Irish Poker Open to Citywest Hotel it came at the cost of not being able to host the 2017 Irish Poker Open on Easter weekend. However we have already put pen to paper to secure the long-term future of the event returning to the historic dates of Easter weekend from 2018.

In additional to the Irish Poker Open will also be hosting the partypoker Millions and the Norwegian Championships during the Irish Poker Festival.

The partypoker Millions has a massive £6,000,000 Guaranteed with a very affordable buy-in of £550 on Day 1 or £5,300 on Day 2.

The Norwegian Championships will be returning to Ireland for the sixth year in a row, and is the largest single nation poker event in the world with over 1200 players participating in their main event.

This year certainly will be going bigger and better.

I presume the OFC event is regular since it's 4max but that seems very curious seeing as regular is almost never played anymore. Pineapple and it's assorted variants are way more popular.

I believe we played OFC Pineapple with Fantasyland last year. I will confirm.

Its OFC Pineapple with fantasyland, yes. When four handed, button sits out. I have played the excact tournament a couple of times.

What's the point of doing 4max and having the button sit out rather than doing 3max? I guess to save on dealers and tables, but would be very annoying from a player standpoint.

Its a lot of other tournaments and cashgames going on that week, so Im guessing its for saving a few dealers.
And this OFC tournament was mostly relaxed and fun for us norwegians players.
When having the button they could do other social stuff like having a beer or talking to friends. And when people bust we played 3 handed for a while anyway. Instead of headsup if 3-max

Sidenote, If the buyin was higher in a more serious setting, we should play 3-max. So JP, a higher buyin next year?

There was talk of having a €400/€500 Championship event. However due to our limited days this year and wanted to add a Seniors Championship event in it just wasn't possible.

Maybe in 2018 when the festival returns back to 18 day festival it might be possible.

Will you be at the freeroll next month in Oslo?

As Acerjay already mentioned with a package tournament schedule and plenty of cash games and only 150 tables where are already giving up 30 odd tables to this tournament while playing 4 handed.

At 3 handed that becomes 40+ tables and which just didn't have the space.

So 4 handed with 1 seating out was an option that suited everyone.

Congrats on what looks like a great schedule.

You should rename The partypoker MILLIONS events according to their official schedule. It is very confusing.
- £550 event should be called Phase 1 (not Day 1)
- £5,300 event should be called Day 1 (not Day 2)
- Millions Day 3 - £6,000,000 Guaranteed: Can you plese provide some more informations about this event? Pretty sure that players who survives £5,300 event (Day 1 by partypoker official schedule) will need to continue with day 2 at Nottingham in April.

Hi JP, and thanks for posting here. Looking forward to my first Norwegian Championship. Going to fly over early to catch the Irish Open as well. Couple of questions:

- Can you confirm the Irish Open Main is unlimited re-entry?
- Will there be satellites for the €2k HR on the 6th? If so, will there be SNGs or multi-table sats?
- How long will the online buyin portal stay open for each event? Until end of late reg?

1: The Irish Open has 1 Re-Entry per starting day so max 4.
2: We don't have a scheduled multi table satellite for the €2k on the 6th, we will run one/two sng's, Blind Omaha and all or fold satellites.
3: We used Billetto last year for the first time and I believe it closed a week before the festival kicked off. I've just sent them an email to see if we can get real time data for players wishing to use this service to late reg.
