The poker room is in a tremendously different state at this time than it was last year. Nothing the room does that hurts the players would surprise me. Anyway, hope you are right, and look forward to some confirmation as to how things are handled from someone tomorrow.

It will not happen, but if all 4 sessions capped at 300 runners, that would be roughly a 350K prizepool.

Re: Indiana State Poker Championship Aug 2- 8

Quick question/need advice...

I have played in Deep Stack event in past and would like to play again. However Saturday I can't make it to the casino until 11:45-12:00 ish. Day 2 starts at 11:15 Saturday.

I'd probably be wasting my time Thursday or Friday trying to make it to day 2 and then missing the first 30-45 minutes of day 2 huh?

Re: Indiana State Poker Championship Aug 2- 8

Sent an email a few days ago to the poker room requesting info on event one (the deepstack). Not surprised that I received no response. Depending on when I get up, I'm going to try and play flight 1a or 1b on Thursday.

Good luck all!

I'm trying to get out of work in time to play tonight's flight. Not sure I can make tomorrow's. Hope I get there before the cap!

Re: Indiana State Poker Championship Aug 2- 8

So is Tues day 1a for the main and Weds day 1b for the main?

Then Thursday is day 2?

I thought looking at the schedule that Weds was day 2. I might need another night hotel!

Re: Indiana State Poker Championship Aug 2- 8

I ended day 1 of the 150k guar at 77,800. About 25k above average. Took some horrible beats to drop to that level from 150k over the last 2 hours....oh well.

The tourney was a cluster to start. Lots of penalties, confusion, the tourney clock broke, etc....It seems to be in order now.

Good luck on Saturday to all who make it.

TY Tom, I was confused at the schedule.

Just an FYI for everyone, DO NOT EXPOSE YOUR HOLE CARDS - YOU'LL GET A PENALTY. I've never seen that so strictly enforced. If you slide your cards and you're under a vent, and the air catches the cards, you get a penalty.

Re: Indiana State Poker Championship Aug 2- 8

Played in the 7:15 flight for the deep stack last night. We ended the night with 40 of us left. I think it started with around 140 or so. Can't remember exactly. I was surprised that the turnout at night was lower.

Early on I saw one of the weirdest hands you'll see in a deep stack like this. We're still at 100/200 blinds and a guy with 50k or so UTG makes it 900. Two people call behind and it comes to the BB. He insta-shoves for about 18 or 19k. Guy UTG tanks for a bit and then calls. Other two guys fold. BB reluctantly flips over AcJc thinking he's in trouble. UTG turns over 9c2s. Yes, 9c2s. Flop of course brings a deuce and two spades. Turn is another spade and then river is Jack of spades. At first BB was happy thinking he won....only to realize that, yes, the deuce of spades made it a flush and a win for Mr. 9-2.

Sounds about right...he will probably go on to win the damn thing.
