That is unlikely given that would mean a change was made AFTER the tournament started...I was in the second flight of the $200K and it was definitely a $200 buy-in.

There was a lower-entry $100K event that ran the previous week...

No chance.

They're the least helpful of all casinos, ime.

Structure is great. I played it last year and was the most card dead I've ever been in a tournament and still had a decent stack before punting before the dinner break. And there were plenty of players giving away their stacks at my table, which made my card deadness all the more frustrating.

Softer field than you'll find elsewhere, though you will definitely run into some sharks. An excellent tourney for the buy-in and a nice change of pace from the strip/WSOP.

ok, i also heard that.
So maybe better playing the Wynn 250k. They are the only casino which also (except Rio/WSOP) confirmed to help with ITIN

Just got back from playing in a few of the daily $150 tournaments here. Very well run series and good numbers. Usually between 325-450 players in that one. Nice room to play in. Mix of casual players and total pros. You might get a soft table, or you might get a table where you're not seeing a flop without paying 5BB. Really enjoyed it there and cashed in one of the tourneys.

Was a bit disappointed as 3 tournaments I had planned on playing were cancelled for lack of tables.

Combination of larger than expected turnouts for the morning tournaments and poor planning resulted in not having enough tables for the 3pm tournies.

One mega was outright cancelled and two other regular tournaments were cancelled when it became apparent there were not enough tables.

Once was told to come back at 4pm. Came back and was told it had been pushed back to 5pm. Came back at 5 and was told it had been cancelled.

Turned out ok because I played a lot more cash than I had planned and did well there. Still, would have preferred to play more tournies than I did.

Congrats to GN on a really successful ME. 33% increase over last year! Well done. I think this justifies an uptick in guarantee next summer.

Just to offer a reality check ; I played at the Nugget and it was a great series but your idea of increasing whatever next year is yours and no one else.

I went there because of the prices and certainly because of the physical room which is top notch.

So you lobby for higher prices in order to make the Nugget like your favorite friend, the Venetian, and I say the prices are perfect and fill the price gap which is being lost during the series; ie a good structured tournament of one day , usually, and entries of 300+.

So you think you know better ?? Its all about you; you're not doing anyone any favors. lol

I wasn't talking about prices, or structures, or single day tournaments. But other than that, you comments are spot on, as usual.

And FYI, the Venetian is no higher than 6th on my list of friends, but it definitely moved up when they got rid of the scent they used to pump into the air.

I must have been a little testy so my apologizes. My problem with guarantees is that I see them as inflationary.

If the house guarantees then they have to have a good feel for the pulse of the guarantee , otherwise they will put themselves a risk .The tournament directors know this and so they can hedge in different ways:

Increase the buy in, say from $150 to $180, which effectively negates some of the "guarantee".

Keep the same buy in of $150 and make the event (s) multiday which the Nugget has done on the weekends.

Keep the $150 and hope for the best but for the Nugget it may be questionable for : they return approximately 72% to the prize pool which make them the one of the highest raked events during the series.

With 325 runners, not unusual during this event, the total [pool would be 150x325or $48750 and the return to players would be .72x48750 or $35100 .

These dailies were guaranteeing 20K and so in some measure to go to a 30K guarantee may be too close for comfort, 25K possibly. they may be right on the edge for guarantees , at present, at least for the dailies.

This doesn't consider the need for space and dealers if the guarantees are for the dailies and this increases the numbers for this could present with cost overruns but I'm going too far here.

I know you spoke to the main event so I don't have access to those figures but I still comprehend that increasing guarantees is inflationary in some manner, for the house, if its on the ball, aren't going to have a "give away "if they can possibly help it.

Regarding the ME, and the ME alone, I would like to see them make this event even more attractive. There was a fair bit of discussion this year about whether one should play the GN ME or the ARIA WPT500. These are similar events. I would like to see the GN raise their guarantee to make this less of a debate.

I get it and hope they do; played in one of the nightly dailies and was never so uncomfortable when playing the Aria. the Aria has been my go to place for some time but the middle of the casino has so many negatives that I may just skip it next year.

I appreciate a pleasant or at least comforting aesthetics and the Aria is at the bottom of the list and certainly nowhere near the Nugget; irrespective of the high rake. lol
