Tweet 'em again and tell that to specify the rake breakdown too.

I just checked the rake breakdown on PokerAtlas.com. Last year the 8 Game tournament was $200+40 and this year I assumed it was going to be $210+40 when I saw it was now $250, BUT NO, It is actually a scandalous $200+50! For shame GN, I was going to play 3 events there, but now I'll just be giving my money to Planet Hollywood for their $210+40 HORSEaments.

I just did and they said it would be included on the structure sheets.

If it's that bad. I'll just play the main, and spend the rest of my money on hookers & blow.

Rake is outrageous.

All events have too many meaningless early levels and then skip important levels like 2500-5000.

Their ongoing summer series advertises best stack forward with pay for every bag.


Why not just say "please cheat in these events"?

So easy to dump late if youve already advanced, save some for bag bonus, and help a friend who hasnt yet advanced.

Huh? I agree with you that best stack forward isn't optimal....but I'm not seeing that for the Championship Event at least:

"Players may register for Day 1A, and/or Day 1B, and/or Day 1C. If player entered into any starting day has been eliminated from the tournament,
they may Re-Enter the flight and/or register for any subsequent starting day(s). Players may not bag and play a subsequent flight. If a player bags and plays a subsequent flight they will have all chips removed from play. Players may forfeit their stack to Re-Enter or participate in subsequent starting
day"

Admittedly I didn't check other events, b/c I don't care and won't be playing those, the rake alone is too high.

Theres another ongoing event during the summer there with a format similar to wpt 500.

The main event rules you posted seem fine.

I believe the number of players who would be incentivized to cheat in all the manners you describe near the end of day 1 flights of non BSF re-entry tourneys is at least 1-2 orders of magnitude greater than the number of players who actually re-enter BSF tourneys after bagging and find themselves in a situation where they are incentivized to cheat. So, I don't really get why you make such a big deal out of it. If preventing cheating were such a big concern, you'd have a lot more to say about bagging procedures, chip protection and any-collision measures. These things are far more important in non bsf tourneys, since players in these are practically forced to get rid of their chips at the end of day 1 if they don't want to come back short stacked. So, rather than getting bent out of shape over a feature that a very minuscule number of people actually take advantage of, I'm not sure why you don't use as much energy to address real cheating concerns in re-entry formats and things TDs can do to lessen them.

Shame on GN for the outlandish rake hike. Can't see myself stepping foot in there this year unless it is changed.

I am boycotting them as well. Rake hike is significant, and mostly higher than other series this summer. Way too many other options out there.

We need to not patronize casinos with this type of rake, or they will all start to do it. Every year it seems they increase.

Only if you know how many buyins there will ultimately be. I ran some numbers for the 10k, 20k and 100k guaranteed $150 NLH tournaments. I found the point at which you pay the max rake, the nearest to 15% rake and 0% rake for each:

$10k
>90 entries: rake = 26.67%
78 entries: rake = 14.53%
67 entries: rake = 0.5%.

The 20k guarantees are twice those numbers (>180 for 26.67%, 134 for .5%) and the 100k guarantee are 10 times those numbers.

I did a cursory search through last years results (http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-tour...d-poker-series) and they made their full 24.7% rake last year for every one of those guaranteed tournaments I found. Can't really blame them for pushing their rake up a little this year.

I can't believe how many people are "outraged" by an extra $5-10 in rake.
That said, only a couple of MTTs I may play @ GN.
Having lowest BIs, smaller turnouts, and worst structure are bigger factors to me than minor differences in rake.

Shame on nugget. I pointed out on twitter some flaws in their structures late, their rake has been criticized, and not a single response here or on social media to any complaints.
