Re: Going to Vegas with about $2500

I play live 3-5 times a week on average, both tournaments and cash so I feel pretty well prepared.

But the plan changed. I won 1200 in 1/3 cash game in a local casino yesterday. One of the biggest fish I've ever sat down with dumped at least 1500 into the game and I ended up with a lot of it. He called a 200 all in pre flop with J5s and a 400 pfai with K9o.

It was epic.

Oh yeah I'm buying directly in now ldo

Re: Going to Vegas with about $2500

I suggest playing every deepstack at the rio. play the 2pm if you bust play the 6 if you bust play the 10pm. On average i'd say you will go thru 400$/day in BI's however if you go deep in just 1 it will be worth your while and you wont have to play the 6 or 10pm tournament which is like a savings. In a week you could get in nearly 15-20 of these tournaments. Mix in a little cash for a change of pace and its prob the best bet w a smaller bankroll. I know im doing this next year. Unfortunately i went out the 1st week of the series when the 2pm daily had only 550 players

Re: Going to Vegas with about $2500

OP, I would suggest that you buy-in to the WSOP event, but sell some of your action to your friends. This is what I did when I took my first trip to Vegas two-years ago...I played a single $1000 event, and sold about 40% to a few friends (at face value), so my liability was only $600. I didn't make it out to be a serious investment for them, just an opportunity to participate in the event a little bit vicariously for a very low cost. And it's more fun when you have other people rooting you on, even remotely.

True but then I have to share my winnings with them too.

I do plan on buying directly in thanks to Mr. McSpewy's cash game donations last week though.

Being that you're so flush, it wouldn't hurt to take a shot at a SNG.

Re: Going to Vegas with about $2500

Based on a few things that I've been reading here, I will probably skip the Venetian DSE events this year and play the Rio Deepstack events instead. Softer fields, lower buy-ins, couple with the Venetian doing a few things that I'm not a big fan of (like booting Wretchy from a tournament, his lifetime ban for smoking weed in his car in their parking lot, plus Venetian owner Adelson's opposition to online poker PLUS his contributions to the GOP) I'm just not going to support them any longer.

So I will play the $1500 bracelet event on Saturday and then play as many DS's as I can fit in before I leave. I will also play some STT's and possibly some 1/3 or PLO as time and money allow.

Since my join date is a full two years before you and I have never changed my avatar on this site, I might ask the same question of you?

A lot of good posts in this thread, especially from pig4bill.

Koko, you clearly want to buy direct, so just do it. A year from now, even if you bust in the first level, you won't regret buying in direct, you already know this. But if you don't play a bracelet event because you stuck with a more correct plan but ran bad, you will regret it when you look back on the experience.

I've been in your same situation with a "budget" rather than a roll, same amount, same amount of time in Vegas. One year I just bought in and one year I played sattys and cash prior to Sunday with the plan of playing the bracelet event if running good, the VDSE if not. I have no regrets about playing the bracelet event that one year and I'm glad I followed a plan that other year...It's just clear from your posts that you're deadset on playing a bracelet event, so don't question yourself and just do it.

Good Luck and let us know how you're doing!
