Honestly I couldn't care less about having to book an offsite hotel, eat at average restaurants or have a smaller player pool as long as the event is well managed and has great structures which is what appears to be the case in Jax from what I've read from numerous other players.
All the things you listed not caring about a lot of players really DO care about and when it comes to a well run tourney with a good structure, hollywood hits every check mark. If choosing btn which site should have 2 stops, hollywood is really a no brainer.

Matt maybe you can address this. The word from some people at Hollywood Indiana this past week during their Fall Classic was that they had signed a 3 year agreement with the WPT for a televised event. They are saying there will be a WPT event in 2012, and the details are being worked out.

There is the same gap in the schedule that appeared in 2011 between the Bay 101 event and the Seminole Hard Rock event, that is where the Indiana WPT fell. So might this venue still end up on the schedule?

I certainly understand with the lack of entries why the WPT would not want to return, but it was nice to have it here.

I can confirm this also. What's going on?

HR Hollywood has a bunch of good on location restaurants, Jacksonville has no nearby good restaurants as far as I can tell. Hollywood is within driving distance of an enormous metropolitan area, Jacksonville is not.

Most of the venue decisions made by the WPT in the last few years, with the one exception of adding HR Hollywood, have been bad from a player's perspective. I know why they're being made, but I think the brand is being significantly diminished.

You are not going to get any argument from me about Seminole Hard Rock, I love it there. You know respect your opinion Todd but I think the tour has added some great stops with Jacksonville being one of them. The poker there is incredible, they have an NFL team, and one of the best golf courses in the world near by. Parx will be a great event and the stops we currently have are at some of the best properties in the US. The international schedule is really improved now too with Paris back on the schedule, Vienna, Venice, Prague, Marrakesh, and others I am sure I am missing.

Matt, can you confirm whether WPT sets the stuctures on Regionals or only recommends and lets the casino make changes if they wish.

My question is regarding the WPT at Tampa Hard Rock next month. After looking at the structures the $2250 main event is only 40 min. blinds and the $750 is 40 min. blinds and even slightly better structure than the main event.

When I talk to the TD he will likely tell me that WPT sets the structures and they have no say so, because I have already heard this from another supervisor, but if that is the case then these are odd structures.

Wpt regional at hard rock Hollywood Florida claimed the same thing although it was obv that Matt had nothing to do with skipping 75-150 and 100-200 25 in first 4 levels

We do not set the structure but will give them a structure if they wish and we do have a standard structure for main events and final tables based on the casino's needs the time levels wil vary.

Question for you Matt... I heard the Hard Rock in Hollywood is having an event in Feb ...if the rumor is true, what are the dates ? I played the last event and was part of the 1,000 people for the $350. What an awesome event that was. Cant wait for the next one.

Would love details of the Venice event in February - still none on the website and it isn't that far away.

I'm assuming 6 Feb 1a, 7 Feb 1b, not a re-entry with a couple of side events???

I'd also really like to know Venice dates and if theres 2 day 1s or not. It conflicts with Epic and im debating whether to come or not before it.

Matt, do you have any comments regarding the PARX WPT stop? A 460+40 Main event seems a bit small. I'd recommend something a bit higher 1500+160 or whatever ala borgata to draw a crowd. If it is not a WPT stop and i am mistaken, i apologize. I haven't been to parx and don't know what crowd they draw but running a 500 wpt main event is killing the wpt brand. That sounds more like a weekly/monthly tourny to many.

Assuming you give the same awesome structures you always give... it seems impractical for anyone to spend however many days grinding for a 500 dollar buyin. There should at least be a decent guarantee to encourage participants. AKA commerce or fla. Or just run a ton of satellites/raise the buy in = profit.

this is not a wpt main event fwiw..its a wpt regional event..however your point is spot on and im sure im not alone in saying this buy-in seems VERY low

The buy-in decision is entirely up to Parx and we only ask that the buy-in for regional events be under $3,000. I imagine that the idea is to run this first regional and get a feel for it but I am exploring their reasoning further. Thank you for the input and I will make sure they get it.
