Structure is kinda weak with the 5k stack. Really gotta hammer down earn and try to extract chips.

Well its not so much me that doesn't have fun I guess I'm pretty indifferent. Its more the recs who play 1 wsop event. If you wanna splash around you better run hot or your not gonna make the first break. If you wan't to nit it up you have like 50 hands to get aces or your fked too. Also hands are slow multiple people need change every hand. Some of the dealers are inexperienced, some of the players are inexperienced. I'm sure some unlucky people don't even get to see an orbit per level.

edit: 1 funny hand I make it 125 @ 25/50 with a 500 chip, 2 other people had to call with 500 chips it took 2 minutes to even see a flop having to get change from 3 different people.

It should, I preregged and waited in the total rewards line a total of like 10 min total.

First couple of dealers today in Flight C were pretty bad but they got a lot better after that. No line at when I registering (using a lammer and cash) or when cashing out. (205 out of however many thousand played Flight C.)

First few dealers I had were fine... The last dealer couldn't count chips, couldn't make change, kept exposing cards. Seemed like a nice guy, but not a good dealer... then he proceeds to make one of the biggest mistakes I've ever seen a dealer make.

Shortstack goes all in blind because its 150/300 and he's got less than 600 from being crippled in previous hand.

When the shortstack goes all in blind, he keeps a 25 chip on his cards and stands up. Dealer grabs his cards and mucks them into the middle of the muck pile.

Floor gets called.

Floor guy number 1 evaluates the situation, gets floor guy #2.

He pulls the player aside to ask the guy what he had, because I assume they would pull those cards out of the muck and let him show down his hand.

Only one problem - he didn't look at his cards... So the floor said that even though he had a chip on his cards, he wasn't protecting his hand enough. I'm not faulting the floor, this is really the only decision they can make, however, it must really suck for this guy who flew cross country, ponied up $565 and lose the rest of his chips due to an incompetent dealer.

So yeah, I saw a player get eliminated today by dealer error w/ no showdown of the hand.

I have found the dealers both very good and very bad.

And the event and lines have been run extremely well all things considered.

BUT, I did somehow lose 20K out of my stack after color up (may well have been taken because I had floor check the number and he claimed they were correct). First time ever for me. I am a little pedantic about putting a lowest denomination chip on all my stacks when i leave. I should have taken a pic on my phone too (but restrooms were calling me)

Oh well, still alive, + 20K would be useful though.

I played last year and just played flight D of 2016... Minus the waiting lines, I liked last year's version better.

If they do 30 minute levels for this tourney next year, I'm not going to waste my time making the trip out.

I thought the colossus was about giving recreational player - "The World Series of Poker Experience"

Other than physically being at the RIO, i'm not sure a crapshoot tourney with an accelerated blind structure where half the flight's starting day is eliminated within a few hours is the "WSOP Experience"

I didn't think it was a fun tournament at all. Poker is a game of skill and this structure/format minimizes any skill edge significantly.

I won't be wasting my time by coming out next year if this structure doesn't improve.

I would be livid if I was certain 20k was missing from my stack. That's kind of a big deal, especially when starting stacks are 5k.

Cashed in both flights today. 317th in C and 209th in D. Back at it tomorrow!

They cant run 30 min events at wsop when the dealer quality has so much variance its a major factor in the outcome of the colossus when they eat so much time fixing errors.

I was certainly not happy. But once there was nothing I could do, I had to leave it behind. I didn't want it to cost me the further 70K I had at at the time.

In retrospect I probably tightened up a little on a slight mind-wandering-tilt.

I tend to not play angry though. Just onward to the next day now. And onto the next hand, then the next.

What do you think happened to the 20k? Do you think it was a dealers mistake?

If it wasn't a dealer mistake, the only other plausible scenario is that someone stole from your stack.

I guess these sorts of situations are best left to the gaming commission to figure out.

The dealer I described in my post above... I'm not sure he could count to 10. I hate to be like that, but when the antes are 50 and someone puts out 500 and the dealer gives them 375 change and the players are constantly correcting the dealer... That is not a dealer I would trust to color up my chips when I'm away from the table.

The dealer definitely made a mistake, but the player did too. If you're all in blind then you shouldn't have any chips behind. He should have protected his cards with his hand, at least until the flop. That would have greatly reduced the chances of the dealer mistakenly mucking his hand.

Yeah... I agree.

It's these types of situations which are why I always, and will continue to, try to help out inexperienced players with the mechanics of poker (e.g. Keeping stacks neat, protecting cards, helping dealers keep from making mistakes).

I take it as a personal responsibility to make sure that new guy has a good experience if I can manage it.

They have been putrid w a few positive outliers

I had one dealer who for 30 minutes at end of day 1a got 100% of hands wrong. She was unable to do math. Did not know what a side pot was. Screwed up shuffling three times. Flipped over 2 cards.


These dealers are so painfully slow and some are pushing 80 years old.


The biggest issue w this tournament is that for a lot of people its their main event. So they are tanking preflop decisions in 30 minute levels. Yesterday i was seeing less than 1 orbit per level at two different tables. No one can win that way

Guess they are not going to break 25k of players let alone last year's numbers. Only 12,271 have played across 4 flights averaging 3k per flight. Would need ~10k to play today to match last year. It will be interesting to see unique entries versus rebuys compared year over year.

435 players out of 12,271 (3.55%) coming back to a 17.63 BB average on day 2. Day 2 will have hour levels so the tournament will get back to a normal wsop event after some consolidation.

So, you have to look at this tournament as two stages. Day 1 is the equivalent of a daily deepstack of which you have to make top 3.5% to gain entry into a real wsop structured event starting on Day 2. Then, you have to overcome an initial allin fest on Day 2 early levels because of the 17 BB field average before consolidation gets the field BB average back up to a normal BB average.

I still think it could match last year's numbers. There's no reason why the last 2 flights cannot hit 5k each.
