Wanted to play last year but had a scheduling conflict. But then I was glad I didn't. Looked like every room in town had every table full with long lists. Seems like a zoo I'd rather not navigate. Could just see myself standing around for hours, first to register tournament and then to get in cash game once I busted.

If people who played last year think this is inaccurate, please let me know.

it was controlled chaos.

I can tell you one thing. It was great experience for me. And like deadlysyns said it was very well managed huge tournament. When you have over 22000 players in a single tournaments ,you are going to run in to some problem. But over all it was the best WSOP experience for the money.

One more thing, I planned everything in 2-3 months in advance. Room,Air Tickets, what other tournaments/side tournaments I am playing etc. It worked like clock work.

I had a First ever Last Longer for the Colossus and there were 43 players joined with me. We all had great time.

Great idea playing each flight into the $$$

I saw that. How does that works?

most likely they will play down to 10% of the field each flight.

In that scenario each flight has to play to different levels depending on runners in the flight !!

Think they'll do it the same way as in the recent WSOPE counterpart, play a fixed number of levels in each flight (enough to be well ITM).

In the EPT poker cup events they do the same. Play to mincash every flight and restart on day 2 on the level of the flight which finished first... The flights are normally finishing around the same level anyway.

So it is Best stack Forward ?

Seeing as the announcement states that you can cash multiple times, it must be. It certainly won't be a case of combining stacks.

I thought it meant bubble would burst before end of day 1. So if you cashed day 1a and then busted before the end of the day, you could play day 1c or whatever and potentially cash again.

I played the event last year and had a blast!. I was really impressed a tournament of this magnitude could run virtually no hick-ups. Booking my room asap. Side no cash games are great during this time but its actually pretty tough to get on a table. Huge wait list.

The Colossus effects everything poker in Vegas when its running. I didn't play the Colussus, but was in town during it. Went over to the RIO half hour after the Saturday morning start just to check it out--it was an awesome mass of humanity.

Went over to see about a cash game and the line just to talk to the lady to get your name on the cash game list was 20 deep and the lady taking names just repeated "I can put your name on the list, but honestly it will probably be a few hours until we call you, so don't get your hopes up." Looked at the Bravo mobile app to see how bad it was and the RIO waiting lists just showed "99+". They had reached the limit of what could be displayed.

I really wanted to play cash so I checked out all the major Strip poker rooms (Bellagio, Venetian) and all their lists were full with at least 40 waiting. All the others on the strip were at least 25 deep. Decided to take my chances downtown. Waited for a Golden Nugget seat for an hour and finally got on a table.

My review is from the point of view of a Las Vegas local.

I registered about a month prior to the start, I did it in-person at the cashier's cage. Encountered no lines or difficulties with the process. I was able to pick up my actual seat assignments (purchased flight 1 and flight 4) a couple of days before the start, again no lines or difficulties encountered.

The day of the tournament, no real problems parking, no issues finding my table and starting on time. Don't remember any big dealer issues. Floor staff was pretty good about picking up empty seats in a timely manner. Very satisfied with the how it was run, considering the unprecedented numbers they had to deal with.

My only problem was being card dead and always ending up with the second best hand...didn't make it to second day in either flight.

I will be playing again this year and pr-registering to avoid any head aches.

I wasn't able to play last year, but plan on doing so this year and have a couple questions.

Is there a certain number of re-entries allowed or are you just able to play each flight once?

Are you allowed to pre-reg all of the flights to avoid standing in line?

Assuming you are still in one of the flights once the other one starts, can you un-reg and get a refund for the 2nd flight even after it has started?

If I bag chips on the first try, how do I go about getting a refund for the other flights assuming I am allowed to pre-reg all at once per my first question.

Based on last year, I can answer some of those.

One entry per each flight (so total of 6 entries this year.)

You can pre-reg all of them. The ones you don't play you will get a refund for a couple of days later (or any time after, during the series.)

You don't need to unregister. If you don't show up within the first 2 hours of play (or some similar amount of time) you're automatically unregistered.

Also no two flights will be running at the same time (they don't have enough chips, seats or dealers for that I think.)

Im confused with The best stack forward rule. Assuming you make day 2 on 2 separate flights you choose the highest stack. But the other chips get forfeited, do you get the tourney buy in back ?

They say each flight plays into the money. At the end of the flight you forfeit the lower stack and choose the better stack how do they know what "place" you are in the money before the total entries have been accounted for(other day 1 flights left).

It's not clear yet, but they may avoid the best stack forward scenario.
The plan may be that each flight will make the money before end of play. If you bust after the flight's bubble but before the end of play, then you can play a subsequent flight. This would mean that plenty of short stacks will go crazy as soon as they make the money in an attempt to either have a healthy stack for day 2 or to bust and try for a playable stack in a later flight.

Last year the structure sheet said they would play down to a winner on day 4, but it actually went to day 5. Why some of these tournaments go a day longer than advertised?
