I want this to be the official Colossus thread once the tournament gets underway. Until then, I'm curious as to how many people plan on playing and how many bullets they will fire.

I know people are disappointed with the structure so a lot are skipping it this year. Plus, with The Giant, online events, and other relatively inexpensive tournaments going on, I suspect this will be the worst turnout so far. I'm interested in people's guesses. I'll go with under 20,000 total entries and under 11,000 unique entries. Other guesses?

Colossus III will be my first ever WSOP event. I plan on 1 bullet only, unless I do well in the cash games. Not sure what to expect at all. I chose this tournament for its low buy-in as well as its, gather chips early OR bust and play cash, structure. Has anyone played in this event in years past that can give me general tips or any help me on what to expect? Either way, I'm extremely excited for my first WSOP experience.

Anyone know of good qualifiers for this tournament or others in Vegas (other than the "freerolls" for play many hours per mo)

It's run just like any daily you would expect at your local casino. 5,000 in chips and 30 minute levels. Soft field with a few pros sprinkled here and there. Most players don't understand position and donk off chips on long shot draws. Of course, that means you might bust from a bad beat by a lucky donk but that's to be expected. It will be crowded and food is overpriced. Eat before you go and use the restroom long before it starts. Bring a sweater or jacket for inside.

Flying in a couple hours before last flight. Firing as many as needed hoping to make a day 2 when it turns into an actual poker tournament. Definitely pre registering, well already did.

I'm pretty sure you can only enter once per flight. So if you're arriving a few hours before the last flight, you might only get 1 shot. If I am wrong, someone with more knowledge please correct me.

This year, I think you can fire two bullets per flight and there are two flights per day.

I just read "One re-entry per flight" On the website. So it looks like you can fire a second bullet if needed.

What are people saying about the structure? I was thinking it will smash records this year with the new re-entry rules. I for one will be buying in as many times as it takes to get a top chip stack for day 2.

Antes by level 3...

80% of the players tanking on trivial preflop decisions because the pros do it on TV.

My table from last year, we were lucky to get 1 orbit per blind level.

I might pass this year or only fire one bullet and try to get lucky.

Two Colostomies are enough for me. Not playing it again.

It's a $565 turbo with a huge guarantee. Call it what it really is. Day 2 is a normal pace structure but the stacks will be really shallow.

But the prestige of the WSOP and the chance for a bracelet are certainly factors for most people choosing Colossus.

I think the "over 1000 buyins" first place might have something to do with it.

Personally planning on a hard limit of 2 bullets for the Colossus (debating limiting self to 1, probably won't), but 3-4 maybe in the Goliath.

New clock rules this year, use them to speed up play.

Anybody happen to know current registration numbers? I'm guessing it's a lot lower than last year already.

I'm going with 23,000 entries. max of 2 from me.
Are 15% getting paid again? Did the bubble burst in 1600 level last year? Approx 2.5% move on to day 2.

I think last year was 21,000 total and something like 11,000 unique entries. You think it will be higher this year? Based on the lack of buzz and excitement on this site compared to last year, it should be less. Plus, The Giant is available for people just looking for a cheap WSOP event. In years past, a lot of people were playing just to fulfill the dream of playing in a WSOP event and I think that phenomenon has died down. Lastly, a lot of people don't like the structure and are opting out of it for that reason alone.

For all those reasons, I'm guessing it will be the smallest field yet for Colossus.

It's pretty close. I was very disappointed last year with the structure mostly because in the inaugural year the structure was amazing and I made it to day 3.

The fact that the bubble now comes day 1 and that it's a turbo takes away some value but I think it's still worth playing. I mean at the end of the day it's a $565 with $1 mil up top. Most regs will fire max bullets in it (and that is double this year compared to last year, and TRIPLE compared to 2 years ago.)

So I'm pretty sure it's going to be around 20k people again.

I'm guessing it's closer to 15,000 runners than 20,000.

Maybe 20k total because of the two bullets per flight but what about unique entries? What's your guess?
