Re: Choctaw, Durant OK Weekly Tournaments

Presumably this is in reference to a very small sample size? :P

Ahahah! True! But also every time I see one of these threads he's like "chopped it 3 handed" or "took it down" or w/e.

I hope everyone knows they are running this Saturday again even though it's the 3rd Saturday. There are 5 Saturdays this month.

This Saturday he is also going to be asking if people want re entry for the first 2 hours till first break. He said if most people say yes then they will do it most likely.

No to re-entry, yes to adding one, two or all three of the following levels 150/300, 2.5k/5k and 5k/10k and yes to starting with level 1 being 50/100!

150 first week, 130 last week

I think we can all agree on adding a 5K/10K level right?

re-entry til first break (2hrs) seems fine to me

Adding levels doesn't seem the case after I talked to him today. But with re entry you will get some more chips in play. Plus will add more to the prize pool. Might also get people to travel a little more knowing if they get coolered early then they can keep playing

And just as many players will not play in rebuys or reentries

Rebuy and re entry are way different. I don't think many people will care. But he's going to take vote this weekend. Adding levels he really didn't want to do. I think if he did he might have to charge more rake because it will add lots of time. So I don't really want him to rake more

Def against re-entry if it means more rake. The tournament is so deep I don't think a lot of people go out quick enough for this to make a huge difference

This sounds good in theory, but it simply is not the case. Adding 15k per re-entry does not counter balance the addition of the player and the time it takes for said player to bust. Yes it helps the prize pool, but re-entry actually hurts the tournament structurally when you are talking about a 1 day event with 30 minute levels. Re-entry with no structural changes will actually create more shallow play mid to late in the tournament than has already been experienced.

Adding a critical level or two will not add much time at all if the first level would be 50/100 as opposed to 25/50. With a 15k starting stack, there is much more value to a 2.5k/5k level and/or a 5k/10k level than the 25/50 level. If they were to start at 50/100 and add a 150/300 and a 2.5/5k or 5k/10k level and not implement re-entry, they would find that the tournament length would be comparable in time to what it already has been, but the value to the player would be infinitely higher.

Totally agree here.

Now if I can only make it to the 2.5/5k level!

Re: Choctaw, Durant OK Weekly Tournaments

Starting at 50/100 and adding levels would BE better, but MOST of the players would like it less. Every time I played a Venetian DSE there were people bitching about starting at 50/100, even though they are structured very well, esp up front.

It's very frustrating. As has been posted by lots of TDs most of the rubes wanna know "HOW MANY CHIPS YA GET?" and NEVER ask "hey is there a 150/300/25?"
