Cell Phone reception @ the Rio

I'm on AT&T and the service at the Rio last year was pretty bad. I could never access internet and my SMS was very hit or miss; more miss than hit. Anyone on AT&T care to comment on how it is this year so far?

I'm not there, but I've seen a lot of tweets from friends with AT&T bitching about the reception...but yeah the wifi kinda makes that moot depending on where you can pick up the signal.

Yep, this is making the rounds on twitter. I'm not there yet either, so I can't confirm either. However, having had horrible experiences with AT&T in the past, I just looked up how to turn off 3G on my cell phone (since I don't have data plan on it anyway, I use iPad for data.) Turns out mine and probably others can turn off 3G, just typing code numbers in on dial screen. Even if you don't have iPhone or similar you might try googling "phonemodel disable 3G" to see if it works for you. ("You" being anybody, in this case.)

I'll try to remember to update after being in Vegas for a few days, it should be pretty clear if this helps - in the past, like others I've had missed calls and texts often came hours later when I stepped outside.

AT&T coverage inside Rio is worse than ever. Suddenly the Starbucks next to the coffee shop is 100% dead zone.

For iphone users just go to Settings - General - Network and 3G on/off will be at the very top

Re: Cell Phone reception @ the Rio

My wife called AT&T to complain over the poor coverage.

She was told that the construction of a new antenna tower situated between the one that currently serves Rio and the hotel had caused the issues, and that techs are working on it. The service rep took a dropped-calls report, and had my wife turn her phone off (she received a call back) to attempt to "hook it up" to another mast, which helped nothing.

Apparently AT&T is collecting data over complaints, so it might be worth it to call them (611 connects directly) and let them know how much it sucks.

Re: Cell Phone reception @ the Rio

Why on earth would anyone get an AT&T cell phone and then complain about the horrible service? It's like buying a Kia and complaining about the road and wind noise.

If you want a cell phone that works, get Verizon.
