Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

We had 768 last year before PokerStars.FR was huge. And PS.FR is a huge site in France...

I am going to be really surprised if we don't push 1000. Plus, we are in a convention center across the street from Casino Barriere for the first few days, so we have 80 tables in Deauville! The 2K and 1K will be massive events. The 2K has turned into a monster on the EPT. Getting high 100's and breaking 200 players so far this year. The last 4 (Prague, Barcelona, Vienna and London) have each had €100K 1st prizes.

Cheers,

Neil

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

I'm playing the PLO 500 and PLO 1000 at EPT Deauville and some PLO cash.

Wondered if you/anyone can help with these questions please.

1. Can buy ins for comps be done at the venue directly from EURO funds that are in my Pokerstars account?

2. Can tournament cashes (if any!) be paid directly into my Pokerstars account?

3. What is the entry policy into the casino, what forms of id are required and is entry allowed immediately on arrival or is there a 24/48 hour delay?

4. What is the dress code for the casino?

5. What is the rake structure for cash games and what is the usual etiquette for tipping in cash games?

6. I assume that EPT comps are conducted in English but cash games are in French, is this correct?

7. Is there an EPT party at the end of the competition schedule, when and where is it and how do I get a ticket(s)!

Thanks in advance for all answers and I wish everyone an enjoyable and successful trip to Deauville.

Hi Sage,

Answers -

1 - No you cannot. From either .com or from .FR.

2 - No they cannot. To either .com or to .FR.

3 - The tournament is being held in the convention center across the street from Casino Barriere, so the dress code for the poker room will be more relaxed. The Casino itself may choose to enforce a stricter dress code inside the actual Casino Barriere since the poker is not beig held in the casino this year. I am waiting for word back from them on that issue. Immediate entry is granted with ID.

4 - I am waiting for their official reply before posting. It has been relaxed for EPT in the past years we have attended to allow for jeans and trainers, but not shorts, sweats, flip flops, etc...

5 - Specifics are also in the email I am waiting for. The rake is high in France in general. The EPT and PokerStars have nothing to do with the setting of the rake in our partner casinos. We can advise and request reductions, but it is the ultimate decision of the Casino and the Government Regulatory body.

6 - The EPT Tournament is an English first event. You must take into consideration that like EPT San Remo, we will have a significant number of players who do not speak English due to the large local player base in France. The Tournament Staff will be French for this event and will be able to handle any translations necessary.

7 - There is a party, but I don't have the date in front of me. I am on my peronal laptop, not my work one. I'll post it tomorrow

See you in Deauville!

Cheers,

Sage, the rake in france makes all forms of cash game unbeatable. you will never see pros in the cash games there. Poker "clubs" like the aviation club do not have to collect the govt rake.

The french govt takes a 4% rake out of every pot, in addition to any house rake

you are also expected to tip

Might have to play golf for money instead, off my 28 handicap!

Thanks very much for the answers Neil, much appreciated.

In relation to question 2, some players will be winning large prize money so if there is no facility to have it paid into their pokerstars accounts then what are the alternatives to being paid in cash please? Is it possible to be paid prize money by cheque or by direct bank transfer and if so can the amounts be converted into sterling/US $ or other currencies before payment is made and if so what reference do you use as the exchange rate?

If I cash big I would be a bit uncomfortable walking around Deauville with large amounts of cash.

Sorry if the answer to the above is well known to most players but I haven't played comps outside of my home country, the U.K., before.

Can I read into your answer to question 3 that the PLO cash games are also being run in the convention centre or is it just your tournaments that are in the convention centre and all cash games in the casino itself?

Thanks again for providing these answers.

Hi Sage,

2 - Wire transfers and cheques are available. The money will be wired out in Euros (90% sure, getting verification) and your bank will convert at whatever its daily rate is.

3 - All cash games, PLO and NL will be played in the casino. Cash SNG will be in the convention center, but not cash games.

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

Thanks Neil for all of your answers and I'm really looking forward to playing in this unique Deauville event.

For players considering playing cash games in the casino.....

I had a chat last night at my local poker club with some French players and French dealers and they felt that the rake would be a flat 4%, but uncapped, in cash games in the casino but that tips are not routinely given because French casino dealers earn a salary and are paid quite well.

I guess I will wait and see exactly how the rake/tips work when I get there and adjust accordingly.

I am really excited about this EPT event, win, lose or draw.

Neil they put Deuville up for a while and now once again there are no EPT step Gs running. I personally wasn't planning on playing for Deuville but was planning on using a step G in my account soon. I really wish they would offer these games for the same amount of time they offer the reg sats.
