Two and a half hours without a break is too long IMO. Fantastic that levels start at 75 minutes, though, great improvement.

Barca might be too tempting to miss. Are 50k players going to get similar comps to the 100ks?

Was there this spring, absolutely amazing city

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

Hi All,

David - 885 - Thanks! The 2K issue is something we are still looking at. I'm not positive if we will change it, but it is definitely still being discussed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it is pretty much the 2K on regular EPT's and the 5K's at PCA and MC that players are really concerned with extending Reg on right?

Todd - 886 - Thanks as well. I know you have been disappointed with the 60 minute Day 1's for a while now. How would you organize the breaks? I'm happy to hear any suggestions. We aren't thrilled about 2.5 hours of continuous play, but it is only on Day 1. It also is only twice without extended breaks. After Level 6 is 90 minutes dinner and after level 8 the day is over, so it is only after Level 2 and 4. The hope is that, since it is Day 1, players will be fresh and charged up for that first 6 level push.

Golden - 887 - Contact Garry Gates. He has all the details on the 50K. Hope to see you there.

9's - 888 - Thanks! Do you mean 4 hours or 4 levels?

Cheers,

Neil

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

I'd say 15 minute breaks after each of the first 4 levels, then dinner break at the end of level 5 (which would be around 7:30 assuming some lag with starting and breaks), then 10 minute breaks after each level after dinner on day 1 would work. Another thing, I think 20 minute breaks are too long other than at the WSOP, where with thousands of people fighting for a few bathrooms they're necessary.

You end up with an additional 40 minutes of break-time this way, which will cause Day 1 to not end until 1:30-2 am.

The 20 minutes in a much less hectic environment than WSOP would allow for a more relaxing downtime of bathroom/snacks/stretching/smoke break to allow for the 150 of play time.

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

Just play 7 levels on Day 1, 8 seems like too many either way.

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

Break every 2 levels is perfect.
I also would prefer a little more registration time for the regular freezeouts altough I realise that this can be a big hassle sometimes in terms of organisation (end of 4th level)

Todd, we only play 600 minutes on day 1 and you would schedule 170 minutes of breaks. Now there are 130 minutes of break which is more then enough imo.
If breaks should be 15/20 minutes can depend from venue to venue. (can you get a snack quick enough /enough bathrooms/ how fast can you exit and enter the venue again) But if we play for 2.5 hours then a 20 minute is ideal I think.

I think we have to play at least 8 levels on the first day (last level is 300/600) to have enough players eliminated so that there are enough tables available for day 2.

Regards,
Kenny

What about 75 minute levels, 2 hours between breaks? It seems like it might be confusing but it really wouldn't be.

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

I must be the only person that prefers shorter levels early, and super long levels later.

There are so many sick events to play! Aggressive levels early are great, especially because you start so deep, then 1.5-2 hour levels at the final few tables is amazing. Playing super long levels for 2-3 days and not even making the money sucks imo.

WPT Bay 101 has the sickest structure ever.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I have a feeling that the tournament clock software won't allow this to happen, though.

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

Two hours without a break like in day 1s of last season was long and tough, but ok, 2 1/2 without a break is too long imo

we play one 1 day more, so 1 break per level should be no problem, or AT LEAST every 2 hours
