Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

There are always plenty of questions that players ask NeilJ whenever an EPT thread gets created, so the purpose of this thread (hopefully) is to have players ask questions here so Neil can answer in a prompt manner.

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

Hi All,

Any general questions players have about the EPT, feel free to post them here. Thanks Kev!

I'll still be sweating all the official and semi official threads, but this way everyone can find me, in case I miss your thread or question.

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

That is Thomas' (EPT TD) thing, I'll ask him for the story and get back to you

You notice it doesn't play at the Grand Final? There we use a beautiful chorus of stringed instruments rather than Ferris Bueller

That is what it is from in case anyone was curious what Mement was asking about. The "bump" "bump" Chiki chikow - no flippin' idea how to spell it folks!

Crosspost from London Thread - http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/65...26/index4.html -

We have had a number of people ask us about DBI for Seat and Hotel for EPT London. So we have decided to open up a special DBI for Seat and Hotel.

You'll find it under EVENTS - EPT - QUALIFIERS, Tournament 297444867. It opens Monday, September 13th and runs until Wednesday, September 22.

Can I direct buyin on Stars for the seat only even if I am a sponsored pro on another site? For the PCA I waited to do it in person just to talk to someone first hand with PS money and it was fine. But that was the PCA, how about for EPTs?

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

Hi Roothlus,

Provided you are a full time Sponsored Pro of a third party site, not a one off sponsorship, you can DBI through PokerStars and still wear your Sponsors logos rather than ours. You will however be referred to in all of our Media Releases, such as Chip Counts, Seat Draws, Blogs, Etc... as a "PokerStars Player".

Cheers,

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

Is it allowed to use a Ipad or something similar on the table?
For example EPT Tallin:
With almost 60,000 in the pot by the {9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop, Demidov calmly bet out 25,500 from the big blind position before returning to surfing the web on his ipad.

Hello,

Will the side-events for PCA2011 still be going on after the FT of the main event?
Just so I can schedule my flights?

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

Hello Neil,

What are the expected turnouts for the 1k horse and 1k 8 game at Vienna?
Are there any guarantees for either?
What type of non NL side games would you expect to run?(What runs at most EPT events?)

Thanks

(How) did you improve the security arrangements after the robbery in Berlin?

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

Is there any benefit in registering for the main event and side event through poker stars rather than buying in with the casino for London EPY coming up?

Is there a cap on any of the events or will I be able to register on the day? planning on playing the ME and 1k 6 max events

Re: Ask NeilJ about EPT tournament details thread

Hi all,

Apologies for a small delay in replies. I've been out sick all week with a nasty bug, but am hopefully on the upswing now.

Ok, to the replies...

Mement - #3 - Thomas says that it is just something his wife picked out and the players seem to really like it. Sorry, no cool story...lol

Miankr - #8 - While we are reviewing the use of I-pads, we have made no special rules regarding their use. They are treated just as all other electronic devices.

Spacey - #9 - We will have a full ten days of Events at the PCA. The Main Event will conclude on the 14th and we will continue to play through the 16th of January. There will be appoximately 50 events over the 10 days, with a special event (soon to be announced ) playing out over the 15th and 16th. Many other events will play out over those dates as well.

Depending on what time you would arrive in the Bahamas, you can book from the 7th to the 17th. There will be events on the 7th starting about 2pm, so if you can't get in until late on the 7th you might want to arrive on the 6th. The Main Event itself will play from the 8th to the 14th (1a/1b 8 and 9).

jb3rd811 - #10 - I had a lot of conversation with our Vienna partners and with Thomas (EPT TD) about the mix games for Vienna. Stud is still a very popular game throughout that part of Europe and you will still find 20/40 and 10/20 Stud High cash games at many poker rooms. They requested that I remove a PLO and replace it with HORSE on the schedule. I think the turnout should be pretty good. I don't think we will hit 100 (but will be happy to be proven wrong), but should get close. Especially considering both events will qualify for the EPT Mixed Game Player of the Year and EPT Player of the Year ( http://www.europeanpokertour.com/awards/ ). There are no guarantees on either event.

By side games I assume you mean cash games rather than Side Events? The cash games are very region specific for the Tour. But you should see more mix games and non NLH cash games in Vienna than you will almost anywhere else on the Tour. We see some dealers choice in London, but the bulk of the action at most EPT Stops is either NLH or PLO for cash games. If you are looking for non NLH cash, this is your best bet on the Tour (along with the PCA).

Ghost - #11 - Last year we had 223 and this year it was moved to Oct. 4th to allow it to have almost the entire poker room to run in. I'm hoping for 200+ for the Event. We should have approximated 40 tables available for the Event at the start, not counting late reg and alternates.

Pose - #12 - Security has been reviewed across the board at all of our Events globally. The safety of our players and everyone involved with our Events is our #1 priority. There is very little I can openly discuss about the security arrangements for our Events, but I will find out tomorrow what I can add to this post for you.

McMatto - #13 - The hotel dates are September 28th - October 6th (checkout). Please remember there are Events on the 28th (5K Heads Up - 1K NL, 2K 8 Game) and so if you want to play any of those, you will need to arrive in the morning.

Card - #14 - The advantages are...

1 - Knowing you have a seat guaranteed
2 - FPP's like it was an online tourney on PS
3 - Not having to have the cash on hand (live exchange rates, etc...)

The only hard caps for the Events are the Heads Up Events, both capped at 64 players. You will be able to register on the day for all of the Events, with the possible exception of the Heads Up Events (which could sell out in advance, the 5K sold out online in Monte Carlo 3 hours before live reg opened). The 6 Max could sell out, we will have space for 240ish at the start. Main Event Day 1B is also a small concern of mine. In Berlin we got 380ish on Day 1A and sold out Day 1B at over 500. With many players waiting for Day 1B to play, I am slightly concerned about 1B selling out although we do have capacity for 500.

-------------------------------------------

Thank you for all your questions everyone, please keep them coming. Now that I feel alive again I will be much quicker about responses.

Cheers,

Neil
