So 18 left in a tournament, utg raised and mp shoved allin which was called by utg. UTG flips his hand and now mp realises the dealer has mucked his hand. The TD ruled his hand to be dead and busted him from the tournament. Similar incident happened in wsop and the all in player just had to pay the inital raise amount and the rest of her stack was still in play and she was not eliminated

Has the ruling been changed or it was completely wrong ruling?

Are you sure the all in amount was greater than the initial raise?

Assuming it was greater, the ruling was wrong. MP should have to pay the call amount only and keep the rest of his stack.

In the infamous wsop hand, the allin player discovered her cards were missing BEFORE the other player had called. Since he hadn't called yet, they properly ruled that she was only liable for the amount of her chips that represented a call or his previous raise, but not the amount she had raised when going all-in. In your hand as described, the all-in player had been called and then noticed their cards were missing. Assuming the all-in player was truly all-in and covered by the opponent, then they were correctly ruled to have no cards, and to lose the all-in, thus being eliminated.
