Hi - I am looking for information with regard unregistering from tournaments. Firstly I assume this is possible up until the start of any event ?
That being the case hypothetically if I have pre registered and sent wire transfers for certain events how does one go about unregistering from a tournament if my schedule has changed or if I am still in another event ? Presumably the buyin is given back in cash or in casino chips at the registration desk / cage ?
Additionally if you send buyins for a number tournaments but are proposing to play cash is this a good way to get money to the Rio for that reason i.e. unregister from some and then use those funds for cash games ? Any advice would be great.
I think this is pretty much covered in the faq on the WSOP website. It may not be up this year yet, but in past years they were pretty good about unregistering, But iirc the refund is made in the same form as the registration. So if you wired in, they might only refund with a wire out. Lammers in, lammers refund, etc.

Yes, you can unreg and get cash after preregistering using wire/cashier's check. There is also a box to check on the prereg form to just send to the cage.
This year I think I will wire the money (from the UK so the big advantage of wiring is not having to carry and declare cash). I am getting a vibe that the WSOP/ Rio have gotten better at the admin for wiring money (when I did it a few years ago, I was seriously underwhelmed by their procedures and have not risked it since).
Since I am fairly sure which WSOP events I want to play, is it better to wire against those specific events or just to wire a lump sum to the cage to pick up ?
The golden nugget have a great 150 holder this year, great structure for a small buyin, but you don't get much up top. The final table usually chop for about two grand. Play this as a satellite for the larger buyin like the monster stack or extend play
Yes, the structure is fast, but where else are you going to get a soft field with $40 - $50k up top for $235 in a 1-day event?
I agree. Sure, you can debate the structure and the high-ish rake but in the height of the series there are well over 1,000 runners and it's quite a buzz playing that sort of event. The 1day finish is really key imo for fitting in with other events in ones schedule.
$550 8pm satellites to 5k events are paid in lammers and can be used for any tournament correct? They Don't have to be used for the 4pm event the next day?

that is correct, you can use the lammers in any event.

If it's not listed as qualifying for an event the next day, are the 8pm megas played as $550 for 5k lammers, $1k for 10k lammers, or $550 for 10k in lammers? Thanks for the responses.
I fell into the common misconception that you could only take $10k over. After stating I had exactly $10k I was taken aside and asked why/do I have even 1c more. You can take unlimited or in the words of a customs officer 'We don't give a sh*t what you come in or out with as long as it's declared when it's over $10000'

Check the structure sheets to be sure. They have them set up in stands in a few different places.

Normal 8pm megas are 550 for 10k in lammers and 200 cash. Events listed as qualifiers vary, obviously.
1) How long do we have to unregister for tournaments? I will probably register for all four flights of the Colossus in advance.
2) When does that big Rio Ballroom open for the summer where they hold all of the cash games and the daily deepstacks?
I emailed about what happens if you preregister for multiple flights for the Colossus and then don't need them--haven't heard anything, so I'd like to know as well.
