last year I had the prefect start to my WSOP. Arrived on Thursday around 6:00 and was registered in advance to play in the Little One for One Drop at 10:00 the next morning. I checked into the Rio and had just enough time to register for the DDS that started at 8:00 (schedule was different last year). I got an early double-up when my QQ held up in a flip vs AK and ended up making a deep run. THe tournament ran very late -- up to 4:00 a.m. before the final table. I got into it with a young pro from Brazil when I was AQ and he wa AA when we were 4 handed and I ended up finishing 3rd. I cashed out for $4600 but I was so tired after traveling all day and then staying up so late that I switched my ONe Drop registration to the 4:00 flight.

So, back to my room, but I'm so wired after playing all night tha I can't sleep. I end up down at the pool at 8:00 a.m. and then later back for a nap but never did get much sleep before the 4:00 flight. i would have been better off just sticking with the 10:00 flight.

BUt, the cash in that first deep stack financed the whole trip and I went home with more cash than I started with. Good memories.

Nice story. I had a similar experience last year. Drove up from Phoenix, decided to jump straight into the 3pm Deepstack. Ended up playing until 8am, finished 7th out of 1200ish for >6k.

The rest of the trip was all downhill but that cash ended up making the total trip a positive.

So the 2 pm is still likely to end past daybreak, right? The levels are the same as previous years?

Last year all the deep stacks were playing down to the final tables at about the same time -- the structures and sizes were such that it worked out that way, but I have not scrutinized the new structures with the new times. Last year the late tournament started at 10:00 and was a $135 buy-in but this year it starts at 9:00 and is a $365 so things may be different.

I'm interested to see what kind of turnout the 9pm $365 events get. 9pm seems really late to start a tournament, I wouldn't expect them to be very popular. But it's also the highest price point they've had for a daily Deepstack, not sure if that will be good or bad for turnout.

I am planning to drive up there from Phoenix in a couple weeks, play cash all day and then jump into the 9pm. I'm planning to play 3pm bracelet event the next day so I feel like this will be a good way to tire myself out so I can get a good night's sleep. But if they are only getting 50 people or whatever I'll probably just play cash all night instead.

It may very well turnout to be a sit'n go....or maybe they are looking to get those who ran deep-ish in the earlier DDS's to buy into this one...

9pm is a turbo so it wont run past the others

Would be shocked if the turbo is only getting 50 people.

If the field for the 9:00 p.m. DDS is small, there will be a greater chance that it will run this week during the Colossus. (we'll see)

48 people in the 9pm tonight. Expect that number to rise significantly in the coming days/weeks.

508 in the first $235 2pm one. It paid 77 spots (15%).

Btw hope its not a sign of things to come but had 2 of the worst dealers ever in the 9pm Turbo. They were incompetent to the point it was embarrassing.

Favorite moments included dealing a flop before giving us any cards......and dropping (more like splashing) the deck into the pot mid hand in a 3 way large pot.

1) Probably hardly anyone knows about them since they are new.

2) Saying Deepstack Turbo is like jumbo shrimp.

Credit the WSOP for printing up schedule pamphlets for every day of the WSOP! It's got every scheduled event, and some days' events are scheduled an hour off from the norm for whatever reason. Be sure to snag one.

The schedule has always stated that they don't run the 2pm $235 on 3rd and 4th

Correct, but last year they also didn't run the evening DDS events, but the sched says they are scheduled and I'm wondering. We'll find out tomorrow for sure, but if they are announced as off, I can make other plans for tomorrow night.

Bearing in mind how quickly the Colossus fields are going to bust, based on the Casino Employees bust rate, I would be surprised if they didn't run.

They probably won't announce it. You'll prob have to go to the reg cage to ask.

And this year's structure is even faster.

Played last night's 7:00, asked a TD this and he said it's doubtful they'll run.
