I stayed there last year. Great option and would have gone back if Rio weren't comping me this year.

I did rent a car tho for approx $29pd which was super convenient.

Are there any special tournament series like DSE at the Wynn this summer?

Yes, the WynnPoker staff just confirmed it. Schedule is coming in the next weeks.

One caveat - sometimes there are more people waiting than seats and it's a mad scramble. It sucks to have to wait for the next shuttle because it seems like this happens when it's 110 degrees and you don't want to wait inside and lose your place "in line". Rental cars start looking like a bargain about that time.

Added Venetian to the schedule (only schedule and rake), Tab with general info and non-hold'em games will be added later on.

Same thing can happen w/shuttles leaving from Harrahs and Ballys. Twice now I've been waiting for shuttles (one time the first person there, the other time about the 6th person in line), and b/c I only have a Gold card w/TR the Platinum, Diamond and higher cardholders filled the shuttle before me. I wasted about 40 minutes only to end up not getting on, ultimatley taking a cab the one time the other time I was literally the last person on the shuttle.

Perhaps if I were more of a gambling degenerate I'd rate higher and have a better card..

I take cabs now - cause like Sweet Brown says, "Ain't nobody got time for that!"

I definitely don't doubt that these stories about not getting on the shuttle are true, but from my experience, I would say it's the rare exception, not the rule.

I've used the shuttles quite a lot for 3 years during the WSOP and never had a full shuttle being an issue. Plus if it is an issue, there's a chance that you can hop on the other shuttle (Bally's vs Harrah's) in less than the 30 minutes until your preferred shuttle returns and just do some more walking once you hit the strip.

On a typical run there really aren't that many Platinum and above who get priority, so if you don't get stuck in the back row of seats in the waiting area, you should be able to get on.

All that said, last year I rented a car b/c if you are using the shuttle a lot, you are waiting a lot even if you don't ever get shut out by a full shuttle. Just depends on your patience level and need/desire to save money.

Maybe I'm in the minority then.. 2 for 2 in bad experiences. Perhaps I'll give it another shot this year when I'm back out there.

Time of day is important. If you want to catch one of the latter shuttles, there is almost always a crowd.

How are the shuttles around the 1030-1100 am time frame from Rio to Harrahs?

The shuttle is a great option overall, and can really help those that are in town for several weeks during WSOP to not drain travel expense money on cabs every day.

Over the past several years of riding this shuttle, I haven't encountered more than a couple diamond/platinum TR holders using the shuttle and loading first. Never more than 6-7 people in any one particular time tho. Certainly never even close to a full shuttle full of them. That is pretty crazy runbad, and clearly not normal, if this happened to you.

I have been shut out of loading a time or two because of the crowd, but just during peak afternoon/evening times.

My sample size is probably about 25 shuttle rides.

Was looking at palms place for the wsop. Is it walkable to the rio? The studuo suites look real nice and gold coast and rio all booked/close to fully booked. Anyone stay at the Extended Stay America on valley view blvd?

I would say you're just "running bad". If memory serves, the shuttle holds 36 passengers. I have never seen more than half a dozen or so rated players get to cut the line, so if you are in the ~top 30 of the line, and certainly in the top 25, you should have no problem getting on.

anyone know if I have to be a current resident of Nevada in order to play the online bracelet event? or can I just show up create an account and only play on it within the proper boundaries (much like I do with stars and the us/not us)

I feel like it should be an obvious "no, anyone can play it so long as they're in Nevada at the time" but yeah. not quite sure.

Yes you don't need to be a resident of Nevada, only need to be in Nevada.

But don't you need a cell phone in order to log into WSOP, for them to verify you are in Nevada?

On a side note yes you can certainly walk from Palms Place to Rio

Palms Place is a great option. Walking distance depending on your fitness level and tolerance for heat. Takes about 20 minutes to get to poker area of WSOP.

There is a Starbucks across the street which is nice too.

Most of us are comfortable that we're not way off track. Discussion around accommodation, transport etc is quite common when we're talking about multiple series in the same place.

Do people walk between Rio and Palms at night? I had a car last year so took the lazy option and drove between the two.
